Baby Beardie Afraid of crickets?

Yes I know it sounds weird but I got a new baby bearded dragon and she is afraid of crickets even though yesterday at the pet store she was hunting just fine? I am gonna go to the store and get some horn worms, super worms, and roaches to see what she likes.

Is this the one you were going to house with the male you already had?
It may not be afraid of the crickets as much as it is probably scared to eat. Relocation stress coupled with being put in with another dragon can cause major problems. It might take some time for it to settle in and eat properly.

(haven't you already been told this by myself and others here) we are not telling you this for no good reason - we've seen many instances of this where people come here later and want help now because their little dragon has been viciously attacked, having tails bitten off, toes and feet and legs , ripped off in an attack or if they are lucky the smaller dragon is failing to grow and thrive (because it's too scared to eat or bask and constantly under stress -=- ) .

Hello, chances are your beardie is simply stressed. Give him some time, most take a week or two to settle in. Please don't feed supers or mealworms, as they can cause impaction.

And if you are housing him with another dragon....PLEAS SEPARATE THEM! This is crucial, and the larger one can easily kill your baby.

I'm really hoping she is housed alone and the advice given by several of us on your other topic was not blatantly ignored.

If you just got her, she's likely afraid because everything is new to her. Those crickets don't look like a meal to her right now because she was comfortable and settled at the petstore, so now they are intimidating while she settles in. If in addition to this, if you did stick her in with the male as we all advised against, she is likely scared because now there's this unknown competition in with her that she is afraid of as well.

Regardless, once she settles in the afraid of cricket thing will resolve itself.
If you housed them together, this will be a life of terror for her until ultimately she is injured or killed.

Oh no, trust me I didn't house them together, it was just a suggestion. I'm not willing to let my babies hurt each other like that. But yea no it is relocation stress cause after a bit it really loved the roaches.

Haven't housed them together, and they are doing fine now! I was just really worried. <3

Please read so you guys know what's going on! I don't want you guys to think I'm a bad owner, I got the really really small baby girl in a 20-10 gallon tank until next month for when I can try to get a 40 gallon tank.

While that isn't necessarily a dominate sign or anything like that, I would try to keep them as separate as possible, to the point where they can't each other.

They are talking to each other .... some people call them tata lizards .... the slow armwave , other alternating arms with slow headnods is "g-day how ya going ?" (usually the girls do the armwaving thing).
You may have two girls if they are armwaving at each other.
