I just bought a baby bearded dragon from Petsmart on 11/25/16 but has not been eating well since 11/30 it has not been eating or eating very very little. Baby is 7 1/2 inches from nose to tip of tail. Only weighing approximately 10grams. I am getting very very worried about him, already attached to my little buddy and will be heartbroken if something happens. Noticed 11/30 that it was scratching at its head with hind legs and rubbing its head on log after being misted. Tail, legs and arms appear to be more dull than rest of body. Was hoping it was just about to shed and had lost its appetite but it is several days later and still not shedding or eating.
Spends most of its time in the basking area, sometimes on higher log, sometimes lower log-rarely goes in to the cool side. Sleeps on top of its log. I turn off all lights in tank for bedtime (house does not fall below 74)
Likes to close the eye closest to you and only use other eye to look around. Started out eating 6 crickets a feeding, feeding 2-3 times a day, now is only eating 1 maybe 2 a day if that. Will not eat any of the salad or veggies I put in there. Will drink some water in bath or when I spray it in his bowl while it is next to it or put a drop on its nose for it to lick off. I have tried to make sure baby is hydrated by letting it soak in a warm bath for 10 minutes (during which it tries and tries to escape)
Also noticed that when trying to eat, often gets distracted by own reflection and scratches at glass. Currently have a background on back glass, will be replacing soon with the Natural Cork Background, just need some silicone safe for tanks.
Tank size: 40gal
Light: Exoterra Basking light 150w + 75% intense and a compact reptisun 10.0 uvb light (we have ordered a new terrarium hood and reptisun 10.0 bulb-should be here Monday) Several things in tank for it to bask on, hide in.
Substrate: Eco Carpet
Temps: basking 105-110 cool side is about 80
Diet: I have been feeding small crickets days 1 & 2 would eat about 6 crickets at a time, fed between twice and three times a day. Dusting every other feeding with Calcium without D3 and also using Reptivite.
I have offered salad made of turnip greens, bell pepper, cucumber, few apple slices, also have tried mashed peas and carrots and it won't eat either of these items.
