So the UVB he can sit under it? It looks like he can-- what is the distance of that bulb from where he sits? It looks like hes awful close and what is the bulb you got ? The T 8 or the T 5? Whats in the domes now ? One basking bulb ? And what are his temps at that looks close too ---- you dont want to cook him -- basking spot should be around 105-110--- if you need to make adjustments I would adjust the shelf his sitting on -- cut it down or maybe get a different piece of decor for him to sit on

So he only likes to bask on his tree branch, I've tried a few different basking platforms, (including the one he's got now) I have 1 basking light in the dome now, and it is 100W. The ReptiSun is a T8. As for the tempuratures, I can't seem to get a solid reading, because I'm confused on where to place the thermostat. I'm worried because he never seems to want bask anywhere but that branch.

Take the probe and set it under the basking light on the shelf--- let it sit there for 10 minutes - my guess it may be too hot - then move it to where he sits for 10 minutes - tape it if you haft to so you get a reading - I would invest in a Infrared heat gun from Walmart Home Depot or Lowes they are easier to work w/ --- the UVB should be 6-8 inches from where he sits --

In addition, you can also place it where he typically basks to find out what temperature he seems to prefer. If he isn't going to the basking area you made for him it could be because its too hot. What are the readings you're getting?

Awwww! He's so adorable! I remember when my baby was tiny. You got a lot of incredibly good advice from seasoned pros. All I wanted to say was when it comes to handling him it may take a little time & patience until he trusts you (took mine over a month). If you touch him & talk to him everyday and then pick him up & put him on your chest, even for just a few minutes, he will come to love it. And you're hand feeding him? Soon you'll have a big spoiled baby who can't wait to see his Mama! Also if you need more heat but less light, Amazon sells black ceramic heat emitters in 100W or 150W. Omakey is good. And I don't buy the "reptile" domes anymore; Walmart sells very nice clamp lamps for $6.50. They're made for high wattage bulbs.
