I just wanted to make a forum to hopefully help anyone else that has a bearded dragon who is seizing and can’t pay for a vet visit. I have a baby bearded dragon named Baelish and I have only had him for a little over a month. When I bought him from petsmart he looked a little rough but he started to do better on a good diet with the dusted crickets.
About 3 days about he started to have little seizures. I had first thought it was an impaction but saw him poop then he seized after. I have researched set ups for their tank and have paid good money to have good lights and a good temperature gradient.
I rushed him to the vet and the vet did an X-ray and diagnosed him with metabolic bone disease. They gave him a calcium/vitamin shot and he automatically started feeling better. They also gave me medicines that further help with getting in vitamins and calcium.
He refuses to eat vegetables and I have tried every trick on the internet.
The vet told me to start feeding them baby food that is vegetable/fruit.
It is now 2 days that he has been on the medication and baby food. He is already doing way better. He has not seized since and is running faster than ever!
The vet notes that you have to pay attention to where you are getting the beardie from. Since I got him from petsmart they said that they were likely not giving him calcium supplements so I was playing catch-up
Hope this helps anyone who has a baby beardie that is having seizures! ?
