I have had my hatchling from PETCO for about 1 week and a half now and everytime i go to grab her out of her cage she runs away from me and wont let me pick her up. Then she opens her mouth like she wants to bite me when i do finally catch her. She is starting to shed so could this be the reason? i dont know, i just dont want her to be agressive and not want me to pick her up. she was perfectly fine with it when i first got her, and of course when i first got her she wasn't shedding, thats why i thought its why she is acting weird.

thanks

It could be a relocation stress thing thats always a certain when bringing home a beardie. You said you were able to pick her up without a problem before? Sometimes when they are shedding they can get irritable too I have noticed. If she used to let you pick her up no problem then I would say the shedding could be the issue. Just out of curiosity what is your set up bulbs, temps and all?

I really dont know the brands, i have a night time bulb, the black one, and i have a flourescent UVB light off a fish tank. and i have a regular basking bulb. She has a basking spot right by the lights about 5 inches away and its around 105F and she is usually up there. and its around 95 at night.

If you can try to find out what light it is from the fish tank because it probably isnt enough. The best bulb to get now is a repti-sun 10.0 if its not that it could cause some problems

And you don't need a light at night...there eyes can still register the black light...t would be better to use a ceremic heat emiter but if you keep your house at least at 65 degrees you probably don't need a heater at night.

Its just an aquatic light bulb, i dont have any money till friday, so i can get one then, and okay but Heat Emitters are wayyyy out of my price range, so i will stick with what i got =P

Thanks guys.

honestly, it sounds like you shouldn't need a night heat source at all. you said that it's 95 at night, that's a bit too warm - dragons really need a cool-down period at night to properly rest. it would be best if you stopped using the night light altogether.

Thats on his warm side, in the basking area though, there is a cool side where he can sleep.

with or without the heat, the light is still an issue. dragons prefer complete darkness when they sleep. if she's not sleeping well, that could definitely cause her to be in a bad mood during the day.

It's sleeping perfectly fine. I go in there and there is no way that thing is waking up.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
