Hello I am very new to owning a bearded dragon I have only had him for 4 days and yesterday he started acting very Strange. He normally sleeps with his head up and would wake up a little when I waked by but last night he was laying like he was life less. And he was the same this morning. The pet store where I got him they use plan old sand and that is what they gave me in the kit. So I am thanking it may be impactsin. But I'm not sure he has gone to the bathroom about twice in the 4 days that I have had him. And he didn't eat anything yesterday. What do you thank I should do?

I have a 40 gal breadr tank and a basking lap 120w they gave me with a ubv light and a blue night heat light and a crap thermometer I got a new one it says it 110° mid hight and humidity at high side 40%. And I gave him a bath he is acing better i thank he was dehydrated but sill hasn't pooped ( fore a better word) for a day so I am thanking he is still impacted. I just don't know how to clean him I had him in the worm water for 20 mins rubbing on his belly. And when he is in his cage he sits on his log kind of hanging on so he is hanging on to it. ( it looks like he is using gravity to poop )

Thanks for answering. I use ceremic tile, but you can use different tile like slate or something ruff otherwise he'll be slipping and sliding. You can also do non adhesive shelf liner, paper towels, reptile carpet. Nix that blue light no heat source is needed as long as your house doesn't get below 65. If it does then a ceremic heat emitter. What kind of uvb is it? Tube, coil/compact? What brand? What kind of thermometer are you using now?

Hey!

Im not what you would call a experienced bearded dragon owner, but I have done my research!

A good and easy substrate is Repti Carpet, it can be found at your local pet store.

The best UVB light is the Reptisun 10.0 tube.

I don't think its impaction, (someone correct me if I'm wrong) but I think if they're impacted, they just don't go to the washroom.

My bearded dragon was recently on a hunger strike, and I fed him Phoenix worms. They are very high in calcium and wriggle a lot so it catches the eye. (They are pretty expensive) A favourite of bearded dragons are wax worms, but Id only feed if he's not eating anything else, because they are very fatty and your bearded dragon may not want to eat anything else.

Im pretty sure the pooping that your dragon is doing is normal, as I usually see a deuce once every 2 days.

Regarding him not sleeping with his head up, make sure the temperatures are correct, a basking spot of 105 and the cool side at about 80. Also, try to control the humidity by not misting the tank too much (as Tracie so helpfully informed me) A 30% humidity is preferred, but I think as long as its lower then 50% it should be fine.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
