Well Auzzie has started laying eggs AGAIN...(unfertilized, I have no male)

She has been in the process for about a week now. She lays approximately 3 or 4 a day. How long should it take for her to lay all of them? She goes around her cage digging and scratching and trying to get out then she will finally lay one. Dunno how many she has inside her but about a year ago she layed around 50 eggs or more. Took her ages! How can I help her so she can lay them all in a shorter period of time??

She is already skinny from not eating fat reserves are gone/caved in........the only way she will eat is if I take her out and dangle food in front of her nose.

I don't have this experience with eggs, but with any underweight beardy, it is best to offer things that are higher in proteins and fats, like waxworms, pinky mice, superworms, and hornworms.

What are you offering her as a food item? Sometimes they get bored of foods offered to him.

Irregardless, gravid females with eggs fertile or not, especially in your case of lost weight, should be checked out by a vet.

This food guide may help you. Can help you with variety. Sometimes certain colors or shapes will entice a beardy to eat. It also has information on gravid females.

as there are no reptile vets nearby i will try to get her some high protien foods and stuff. would adding a bin in her tank full of sand help her lay faster? she just keeps digging and digging like she's upset that she can't dig a hole or something...

Many breeders use a dirt like substance - try eco earth or forest bedding. It holds up better than sand and keeps the eggs moist upon laying. You can offer this say, in a kitty litter pan or, place the dirt like substance in a small deep tote or tuber ware container. You can put the litter pan in the cage if you'd prefer, but I've seen the tote idea work pretty well. Consider this her 'laying box'. Place her in the tote/rubber maid for a couple hours a day, everyday. I would place a heat lamp over top at a safe height to keep her warm.

She may lay a few at first and will continue to lay eggs throughout the month.

Once the eggs are laid, I would take them out of the dirt and place them in small containers filled with vermiculite (you can buy this from a garden store, like Home Depot or Lowes) and place them in an incubator. The vermiculite keeps the eggs warm and hydrated, although some misting of the eggs is recommended every once in a while.

That is my advice =D As for the temperatures you would keep them at, I would look that up or ask someone who breeds them professionally =D I got the vermiculite idea from Daichu Dragons, a heavy breeder in PA.

thanks for the information. as I stated in the first post, I have no male, so the eggs are unfertilized. I just want it to be easier on her.

PS: Her eyes are also runny lately. What could that mean? (maybe just getting sand in her eyes. they tend to water while she eats as well)

I apologise. I wrote that late at night =P

It could be from all of the dust she is digging up from her sand. Keep an eye on it. The sand may be an irritant with all of the dust, if that is all it is. No other symptoms like excess mucus in the mouth or discharge from the nose? Those are usually signs of a Upper Respitory Infection or lower respiratory infection.

My Beardie layed eggs few days ago. I used Exo-terra plantation soil, I wet it up and packed it in so that when she digs, it will hold it's shape. You can put sand in another box and get the sand moist so it holds it's shape and then place her inside. The sand or dirt should be a few inches deep so she can have a nice dig. Just keep her inside until she finishes laying all her eggs (You'll know when she's done when she covers the eggs with dirt or just walks away from it and isn't interested in digging anymore). After she finishes give her a long bath to rehydrate her and give her water orally if she is willing to drink and make her a nice salad!

Credits to fresnowitte for teaching me!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
