attacking paper??

i FINALLY managed to clean the sand (ugh) out of rocky's tank tonite when he was having his exploring time. before when i got him i just covered it with paper towels, but now that i am able to take him out for awhile good time to get it out of there. anywho, i put down newspaper since i was out of papertowels. put him back in the tank, and he is attacking the paper, biting the heck out of it. this won't hurt him will it?? he was raised on sand, and i know the paper must have a really different feel for him. i just don't want the ink in the paper to harm him

Is he only shredding it or also eating the newspaper? If he's just ripping it apart, it shouldn't be a problem; if he's ingesting alot of the newspaper, you may want to consider switching to paper towels.
Maybe he doesn't like the crinkling sound.

thanks for the reply....i think it was because it was new...he doesn't bother with it no more. he wasn't ripping and / or eating it, he was trying to attack it, bite it. i think u r right with the sound..........
