Ate a Large Wild Roach

Hello,

When I was letting my bearded dragon bask outside today, I took my eye off him for a while and didn't notice that he was hunting a rather large insect. When I looked back I saw that he had apparently eaten a slim, black insect, perhaps an inch and a little long, looking like a darker, shinier male Dubia Roach without wings. I get rather nervous about my bearded dragon eating wild bugs, especially since I know one of my neighbors uses copious amounts of pesticide, so I'm really worried now.

I know bearded dragons have considerably tough stomachs, but is there anything I can do now, as well as behavior to watch out for?

Hi Marti, probably no concern about pesticides, but of course watch for blackened beard, gaping, coughing/vomiting. A large wild insect might carry other parasites though, so you might have a fecal test done in a few weeks to check. He'll probably be fine though.

Poisoned bugs don't seem to effect the wild skinks who live around and under my house. But they inherit a natural immunity and high tolerance from their parents in their genetic makeup.
My neighbours use pesticides (sprays, baits, bombs, surface sprays too) and sick dying bugs do travel.

Captive bred lizards have no such immunity or high tolerance so as said above, just keep an eye on him and watch for signs he's sick .
