Hello all,

We received Dani's tests results today and found out she tested positive for Atadenovirus. With three other beardies in the house, we have decided to have them all tested and discontinue any community time.

I don't know what to do moving forward. Dani was our first truly sick beardie and I'm afraid Mushu, Cricket, and Taddy may already be infected. With our recent loss still fresh, we are at loss for what to do. We can't stand the thought of losing another family member.

Please help us. What can we do to keep them from getting infected if they have not been infected? What do we do if they test positive, too?

Thank you for your help.

I just now saw your other thread and am so very sorry that Dani is gone. I'm glad she's no longer suffering but my heart goes out to your family, it's so difficult to lose a beloved pet. :(

It would be best to test your others for ADV, but remember that some dragons live quite a long life with it. There are threads in the infectious disease forums about some that are thriving, many do so if they make it to adulthood. Try not to think the worst for now. Enjoy your clan + have fun with them.

I'm very sorry, what a horrible situation to be in..Yes, you definitely should get all of your other Dragons tested so that you know and can treat them accordingly if any of them happen to also be infected.

As AHBD already said, Adenovirus is not an automatic death sentence, in fact there are many positive Dragons living without many, if any signs/symptoms of being sick. I recommend that you contact Tracie, the moderator here on the forums, she is actually working on a cure for Adenvirus and she is the person to talk to about how to go forward with treatment if by chance any of your other Dragons test positive. She knows about all of the supplements that are being given, meds, etc. And in the Infectious Disease forum you'll find many Dragons living with Adenovirus successfully.

As far as preventing them from getting it, obviously for now you need to keep them all separate until you get their test results back. Don't use any common equipment, bowls, decor, etc. between them, and wash your hands both before and after handling each dragon each time with an antibacterial soap, or better yet, invest in some F10 Disinfectant if you haven't already.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
