There you go Gran, i think i've fixed the pics now. and thanks for the link, i think those are the same as what i bought for the new tanks, (the box is different but the name is the same) I bought the repti glo bulb as a quick fix because the format of the ballast didn't fit the reptasun i bought originally ...kind of a long story involving three trips out to pets stores, and "Reptillia" ultimately found what i really needed at home depot. somewhere in the neighborhood of $300 later I'm set. here's a quick unrelated question about lighting;
my new ballasts are double bulb units, any suggestions as to what i should put in the second space?

You can use the sun in the back side, and a tube shop light in the front ;)
I've done that!
Ohhhhhh they are just Magnificent ! Thank you sweetheart ! Now I can ooooh and aaawwwe over then appropriately ;) lol

How are they settling in ? any issues we can assist with ?
Oh... and you miiiight wanna think about ordering some dubia roaches from TheRoachGuy.com.... His name is Jason... Jus tell him "Janie" sent ya ;)
Best source of insect protein for a gravid dragon ! Can't wait for updates on these two.... Oh... have you thought about building some sort of lay box yet ?
Give you a hint, dear.... a large rubbermaid tote, without the lid, 1 clamp on shop light with a flood bulb ( 100ws aught to do you well) and a mix of play sand and some sort of potting soil, without either fertilizers or chemicals. Mix those together well, and moisten enough so when you pinch a bit between your fingers, you get a drop of water. Place this mix all on one side ( deep enough so the female can totally dig down her body length) and the shop lamp on the opposite side, beaming down on the "nest" pile.
Once she is ready, she will go off her feed, and start digging madly. Just place her inside the bin, don't worry about feeding or water.. Once she is finished, remove her to a long lovely soak, and feed her as much as she wants. You will want to continue for around a week or so on the extra cal days, to help her catch up what the eggs took out of her.
Hope this helps out !
Gran Janie.

you folks want to help me name them? we honestly haven't come up with anything decent. it's just been him and HER haha that sums up their personalities as i've seen them so far. when i take them out, she cruises non stop, and is some how "bossy" he is the opposite, where ever you put him down is a pretty awesome spot to hang out,

they are settling in nicely, but it's hard for me because there is no comparison. At first i was worried because they weren't eating, but that's been resolved. my biggest concern really is if they've mated.

Dubais, that's gonna be a tough sell to my better half. we have a basement apartment and typically you do what you can to keep the roaches out... but i will say, crickets are a nightmare. i bought 500 (3/4's) and they are doing a pretty good job of stinking up the joint. and the three or four that got away are under the chest freezer just a chirpin' away. so this weekend we had a reptile expo in toronto and i bought 250 superworms and after trying them out on "him and HER" have started a breeding colony. hopefully that works out.

if you guys have suggestions for good couples names i'd love to hear them. so far I have herman and lilly or darma and greg

have fun, john

no suggestion on names but suggestion on the Dubia
Call them Brazillian Dubia Beetles. They dont really look like your "classic" roach so you might get away with it.

I may look into these as well, I really have had almost a phobia about bringing feeders "roaches" into the house-I know it sounds kinda girly of me, but I do fine with the crickets and worms! An ***** at a big petstor told me once that I should get Madagascar hissing cockroaces-talk about a huge, creepy bug!-however, they just have WAY too much hard shell and are just too way too big. Everyone here who suggests the dubias say their dragons love them, so I may give them a try. I assume they are a pretty good source of protein?

Very cool! Thanks. I'm quite sure my girls will love them, my mountain horned dragons would probably go crazy for them as well.

....oh i don't know, she works with exotics including a number of reptiles for a living. I think she'd know a roach when she saw one no matter what i called it. I think i'd have a better chance if i said they were better source of protein etc. and at this stage anything that doesn't hide under the freezer and chirp would be cool.

:laughhard: Mine don't hide under the freezer, they chirp in the fireplace. Ever hear a chorus of crickets echoing in a fireplace at 2am? It gets loud! Wish I could handle roaches. I'm from southern La. just can't do roaches. :bleick:
As for names, Fred and Wilma or Barney and Betty. Fred and Ginger or Bogie and Bacall. Hepburn and Tracy or
Lucy and Ricky or... well, you get the idea.

Escapee crickets in my house manage to hide under the stove, fridge, behind the washer and occasionally in the bathroom. Glad I don't have a fire place! I thought the chirping was loud enough as it was! LOL

I know I'm going to get slaughtered for saying this.......but.....if she starts getting fattish feed her a few pinky mice before she starts digging.

I know, bones, fat and all that. It will do her a world of good.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
