Just wondering if my lighting was set up right. With his new cage and all i had to re-wire his lighting. And is if close enough to his basking spot as well? just asking, cuz i know it never hurts to ask =]

Correct me if Im wrong, but it looks like your UVB light has a plastic covering over it... Remove that right away! UVB rays can not go through glass or plastic, so your baby is not getting any UVB what so ever with that plastic covering.

What are the temps? I dont know the wattage of your basking lamp, but as long as your temps are good its fine.
I would lower the UVB lamp though. It should be about 6-8 inches away from his basking spot. What brand of UVB light are you using?

thanks. i took the cover thingy off right away and lowered it. temps are good and he seems to like it better

What type of UVB are you using reptisun 10.0 or a reptiglo? Reptisun 10.0 is the best out right now and the reptiglo can cause eye problems for beardies. Other then that it looks good just what the above poster said and make sure he can get within 6-8 inches from the UVB while basking.

its a Zilla fixture, not sure what watt tho..my husband bought it for me. But now draco color is really coming out. b4 i got his UVB i was taking him outside all the time =]

Ok so I have the same light fixure from Zilla and I have the plastic covering on it to. But Jess just said to take it off. I tryed and I can't get it off and I don't want to break it. How did you take the plastic covering off? (I know its a dumb question!)

oh i had a hard time getting it off as well. i tried using a screwdriver from the back side of the cover but it was too fat, so i had to use the smallest allenrench i could find. and unscrewed both screws that were holding it together.

Yea sometime they make stuff more difficult then it needs to be. I am going to suggest getting a reptisun 10.0 bulb for that fixture for both of you because it is the best on the market and other brands have been known to cause eye problems. You can get them really cheap from petmountain.com then you can watch their real colors pop.

i plan on getting one asap, but right now funds are not good. i was in a car accident and the ppl who hit me are trying to act like it never happened so now my medical bills wont get paid. so hopefully i will have one soon =]

Sorry to hear that. People suck sometimes. Im glad in my state its required to have insurance even though not everyone has it. www.petmountain.com has them the cheapest. $28 with shipping. When you get it make sure to write the date on it because it needs to be replaced every 6 months because it starts to lose UVB power.

I ask my mom to get the reptiSUN 10.0, but she said that I will get one when I need to get a new bulb which is in about 2 months. But I'm trying to save up money for it but that's kinda hard since I'm only 13 and have no way of getting money!
