Are figurines safe?

I've been looking at a lot of enclosures and have noticed that some people add little statues and household decorations in their bearded dragon tanks.. I LOVE the look of those and I really think that it adds a nice touch to the tanks. But are they safe? If I do decide to do this, is there anything that I should look out for that could potentially be dangerous?

Just do not use anything that resemble a lizard!

Also consider if you are feeding your dragon in his enclosure, some of these figurines have good hiding spots for some feeders like crickets.
Stay away from potential safety hazards like rather sharp edges etc..
Otherwise your fine. 8)

He has a separate tank for feeding. So even stuff from the dollar store is safe?

Keep an eye for paint chipping/flaking
The fish decor isle at the local pet shops have some cool things, they would stay intact longer.
What are you considering to get, you could just show em and maybe we can tell you that way.

I am half Chinese, so a lot of the decor in my house has an asian theme to it.. So I really wanted to integrate my beardie's tank with the rest of my decor. I have some small dragon figurines that I got from Target for $1 awhile back. But I could see how they could resemble a lizard. Soooo, I am thinking about Buddha statues or things of that sort.

I say no lizard figures as there was a dragon once that tried to eat one, had to have it removed from it's throat.
There may also be a possibility your dragon just doesn't like a piece of decor of this aspect and will attack it too.

Personally I would stick with cage decorations.. kids toys end up with lead paint, who knows what that dollar store Buddha is made of.. dragons lick everything.

.. now I'm wondering if you could mod podge or otherwise seal stuff as a precaution.

That would be a good idea!

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
