arcadia mounting in or out

Where does everyone mount their arcadia fixtures - the one's that "light your reptiles" sells??? I hate that I can't see it in person and there are very good pictures on the website.

Is it possible to mount INSIDE the tank and if so HOW????

I bought new tanks - 48" x 18" x 25" high - the screen top is split into 2 separate screens. I'm afraid with an OUTSIDE mount that would go over the plastic might melt the plastic. I've talked to Todd through email but I'm just still unsure of what to order.... this is how I feel -

Todd said that the plastic wouldn't melt - but isn't there 2 bulbs in the fixture??? plastic is easy to melt. I'm just so confused and don't want to order the wrong thing as I need 2 of them for 2 beardies and they are expensive....

Okay, so which Arcadia bulb and fixture exactly are you thinking of using? And can you post pictures of your enclosure & screen top?

I have Arcadia bulbs mounted inside 3 of my enclosures (two 48" long and one 60" long). For the 48" long enclosures, I used the following:

- Arcadia D3+ T5 12% Desert UVB Bulb, 34 inch
- Microfluorescent Adjustable T5 High Output Grounded Light Fixture, 34 5/8 inch, which I ordered online at

The Pegasus light fixture is absolutely beautiful, very light, slender, and easy to mount. It comes with two sets of mounting clips... one for mounting on the underside of the screen top, and one for mounting on the wall if you prefer. The reflector adjusts 360 degrees around. I mounted my fixture on the top of my enclosure, and it took just a couple of minutes.

One small detail... the mounting clips come with long pointy screws, which are fine, if you are drilling into thick wood material. If you are working with a thinner panel, however, you may want to change them out to short (3/8" long) #8-32 screws, and top them with #8-32 cap nuts for a nice clean appearance on the outside of the viv.
