can i use an aquarium hood for my baby beardie?
i have an 18" hood from my fish tank that i wanna put a uvb bulb in so it stretched across the middle of my viv. I'm using a hard metal screen top. not mesh, metal. does the hood have to be reflective ? its white ....
shouldn't the uvb cover the whole viv and not just 1 half of it?
exactly what lights should i have for a baby beardie & where should i put them on my viv.

It is not a requirement to use a fixture that is reflective but it is recommended. I recommend a t5 Fixture from ccarolina Cages along with a reptisun 10.0 22" t5 bulb , seen below are links to both. If the tube doesnt stretch the whole length of cage, put it on the end the basking spot is on.

White does not reflect UV, unfortunately. You can use aluminum foil or aluminum tape to make a metallic reflector though. This will help make the lamp a little stronger instead of letting the light going up from the bulb go to waste.

The problem with mesh and such is that it blocks UV - if your screen has small wires and big holes it will let more UV through that big wires and/or small holes.

I like the T5 like linked above, 1/2 coverage is fine with those. If you have a T8 then more coverage is better.
