We have a male brown basilisk named Ivan who previously may not have been taken very good care of at the pet store we bought him from. We believe he may have internal parasites and we aren't sure of his age but at first we though 2-3. We are thinking because of his faded marking and how slow his lip is healing (he busted it up bad in the box they put him in for transport back to our place. it had wire mesh on 2 sides of it, not good for a flighty lizard). We think he may have been wild caught because of his demeanor towards humans or he just hasn't received much contact. I plan to take him to a vet to properly determine whether he has parasites or not and find out why he hasn't gained much weight in the 2-3 weeks we've had him. I don't know if i can afford it but despite his mean demeanor towards us most of the time i want him to be happy if he doesn't have to many years left with us.
He has been eating his greens, crickets and some pinkys. Though he isn't too active, unless you try to touch him. He's been having irregular poop consistency, which i think is a sign of parasites as well as not much weight gain. I'm not sure which heat lamp we have for him, but it keeps his 55gal tank pretty warm and humid because he is a jungle lizard. His UV I'm not sure which kind it is, i need to ask my boyfriend which kind he has.
