I tried to order from Ghann's but they cancelled it because the weather is forecasted to be under 30 degrees in NJ this week. That means I'm stuck buying from Petsmart at 11 cents a cricket argh. Since my tegu eats about 40 a day (my beardie doesn't want to eat any right now), that adds up! I'm used to ordering online and then they just include a heat pack. How long do these heat packs last anyway? Is anyone else having this problem?

I'm in Mass and temps have been too cold to get online orders of crix or PW's for almost a month now, so I feel your pain. :(
I too have resorted to spending upwards of 6-10 cents a piece and getting 200 crix at a time, every 4-5 days or so from the local pet stores.
It looks like there might be one day next week that the temps could get warm enough overnight to squeeze in a shipment, but it's going to be a gamble at best.

I believe the heat packs most places use when shipping are rated for 48+ hours, but doubtful they last that long. Plus, it looks like 20 degrees is the lowest they will go for overnight temps and still deliver. My guess is anything lower than that and no amount of heat packs are going to be sufficient.

I guess I don't have any advice other than to say you're not alone and hopefully someone has some ideas that can help. I hope the temps get warmer soon, at least warm enough for places to start shipping crix to us!!

...and I'm sure we'll see at least one response that says "start a dubia colony", which is great except for the fact that it'll be spring before the colony gets going...LOL

LOL I have a dubia colony but I don't feed out of it because I'd only be willing to sacrifice the adult males which are too big for my tegu right now =)

So that's pointless hahahahha

I have maybe 500+ dubias but I just don't want to jeopardize the colony by feeding ones that are small enough for the tegu

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
