Anyone had any luck with T8 to T5 converters?

Hello Again~

I was browsing the internet again, and found some T8 to T5 bulb converters, and I was wondering if I could use these with my UVB bulb, instead of buying a whole other housing...

Anyone tried/had any luck with the converters?

It should work. Its not changing how the light functions, just how it fits. So your UV bulb should operate the same as it always did.

T5 UV lamps are High Output bulbs and have different wattage requirements from T8 normal output or T8. They are also shorter.

T8 24" : 17W
T5NO 24" : 14W
T5HO 22" : 24W

You'll need to make sure you ballast/fixture can support the higher wattage. If the converters are just changing the end caps to fit T5 pins your UV light may be underpowered and not work to it's optimum (and maybe not light at all).

The one I found on amazon was universal wattage and size. Wish I could find the ad again so I could reference it. I'll keep looking....

Found it...I was mistaken on universal size. I thought it was adjustable. But the maximum wattage ratting is 28 watts. It can work on lower wattage bulbs also.
