Anyone Else Experience Escaping Dubia? (Besides Me..)

Lately I've had a problem with finding random dubia walking around my house. >_<

It's probably because my colony is severely overcrowded (gotta get around to making that craigslist ad...) but still.

I thought they weren't supposed to be able to climb smooth surfaces, but I find them on the underside of the bin's lid all the time. So far outside the bin it's been 90% males with a nymph or 2, but lately when I open the lid females are literally falling out. I've caught all of them (I think) so far, but it's very worrying.
Especially since my parents don't even know about my secret colony... o_o

Oh, and another reason I'm worried is because I turned off their CHE a few months ago because it is indeed overcrowded, but I still see babies allll the time! Apparently southern Cali is warm enough that they can breed without supplemental heat and so I worry what could happen if females did indeed get loose, too...

Obviously I'll be buying a bigger bin, soon. x_x

anyone else ever have random dubia escapees? What did you do?

I think it depends on the bin. All of ours are the same except one, and that one, they can climb. Its not as shiny smooth as the rest. I think that bin is going to get retired when we go shopping again.

I've also seen people who use double lids. The first lid always stays on and has a huge hole cut in it, basically a 1" border around the entire bin. The other lid goes on top, it has a small hole with a wire mesh vent.

I tried that but noticed that my heat light was making the vaseline all melty to where it slowly oozed down...
probly works better if you're using a pad, though

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
