Hi

10 days ago i was given 2 bearded dragon, who are apparently 1.5 yrs old. They were living together in a 3ft viv, but are now seperated. Gizmo (female) and Rocky (male).

I am a little anxious as Gizmo isn't eating much and is constantly digging in the corners of the viv. I know the move would of caused them some stress. Could she be pregnant? I have taken a picture of what seems to look like eggs in her tummy. Does anyone if it does look like eggs?

If she is expecting, wot should i do? could she have them in the viv an hatch them there or do i need to take the eggs out? Once the eggs are hatched would she kill the young, do i remove them.....so sorry i really don't know what i should do :?

I have read i would need a box in there so she can dig an bury them, would i get one from the reptile centre?

I was told she has laid eggs before but they just removed them an disposed of them.

I hope someone can help me so i can help her

I have just read that she needs a 'laybox' with 12 inch of burrowing substrate....is that 12 inches deep or diameter? Also, it said that once she has laid the eggs i need to remove them, why? :?:

that would be 12" deep preferably. Some people use a small trash can filled part way with damp sand/soil mix. This kind of lay box won't go in the viv, instead you put her in it for a few hours every day until she lays. Of course this means you need to keep the box warm. You can try a simpler box if you wanted, fill a large litter box with the damp sand/soil and put it in her cage.

You remove the eggs because they can't hatch in a cage. They need to be kept in a incubator with proper temps and humidity. If she does lay, the best thing you could do is freeze them and then throw them away. Babies are expensive to raise, really expensive. You need a ton of food and separate cages, mom would eat them if they were with her. Females can lay multiple times a year.
She looks really skinny, you need to work on getting some weight on her and make sure to giver extra calcium just in case she does have eggs.It doesn't really look like she has eggs but that doesn't mean there aren't any. That bulge is pretty high up to be a egg.

thanks for your comments i appreciate it, but like i said i have only had them 10 days, and have offered them food but they aren't eating, so fattening her up is a bit difficult!

I will keep offering food an veggies an see how things go. I put a laybox in filled with the soil mix and she is straight in digging away, so i guess time will tell :D

Be careful, if she is only 1 1/2 years old that could be dangerous for her. females should be at least 2-3( 3 is preferred) before they should mate. i know its not your fault and good thing they're not together anymore. anyway good luck with the youngsters hope they hatch. do you have an incubator ? keep us posted!

Hi

The final count for her eggs was 22 that seemed to be good an 2 that were not. I don't have an incubator, but i took them to the local reptile centre for them to incubate for me.

As i haven't had them long i am taking them to the vet to get them both checked over tomorrow.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
