Another strange poop

Hi, me again. I’m probably worrying too much but my little dude keeps giving me stuff to worry about. He pooped (a little) while I was at work. But this is what he left me with. I recently started feeding him small dubias. The first time I brought them home he ate a bunch. Like, 15-20 twice a day. That was about 2 weeks ago. Now I’m lucky to even get him to eat 5 a day. Today, he pooped like this

, & I’m noticing that he isn’t basking like normal. Just sitting with his butt to the floor nonstop.

What are the basking temps and how are you taking them? UVB ? brand and bulb please ? coil ot tube?

He’s in the mid 90’s for basking (I’m having trouble getting it higher), & I don’t use coil uvb cause I know they’re bad. The temp is taken with a digital thermometer w/ a probe. The uvb is a reptisun 10.0 bulb, haven’t had a change to switch to a t5.
A few minutes ago, I moved him to his basking spot but once I left he went right back to laying on the floor.

Odd that hes not staying in the basking spot since it should be 105-110-- what is the basking bulb your using ? Is it a coil white bulb or a regular bright white basking bulb? Is it a off color yellowish bulb? The 10.0 UVB is a T 8? Where in the tank is the UVB?

It’s just a 100w repti basking spot light. Regular ole fat white bulb. The uvb is a compact bulb that is in a dual lamp dome thing sitting on top of his tank. Like I said, haven’t been able to change stuff up. We haven’t had this problem before, he’s always chilling on his log basking. That’s why I find it so weird that he’s just sitting on the floor not being active.

Ok so I recommend you get rid of the coil ASAP-- if you haft to go get a Zilla 20" fixture from Petco Petsmart its going to be way better than the coil!! At this point hes getting sick they are inadequate bulbs --- the 20" is a T 8 get the Reptisun 10.0 bulb T 8 --- UVB is extremely important besides the basking temps and that you got covered its the UVB you really need-- also he will eventually quit eating as he cannot absorb his calcium w/ out proper UVB

Oh gosh I didn’t realize it was that serious. I’m pretty sure it’s not a coil though. I could post a picture of it? Also! As it turns out the temperature of his basking spot was reading wrong. I moved the probe directly on where he usually sits, & it’s a very toasty 115 F. I’m thinking I should go back to the 75w to see if it’s warm enough but not too hot.
I’m thinking this might be a strange ask, but could you walk me through what uvb to get? He’s in a 20g long tank with a sliding screen top. I’m also on a budget.

ok so your gonna haft to upgrade that 20 gallon here soon---- I would look for a tank on FB Marketplace or Craigslist --- 75-120 gallon one w/ front doors preferably---- if you find one make sure you sanitize it really good w/ some Rescue or Zoo Meds WipeOut ---- try Petsmart for the Zilla 20" fixture I would have you invest in the 24" Zoo Med fixture as it will go into your upgraded tank its best to invest in the bigger fixture now as you will haft to go to a bigger fixture in the long run -- this is what I am talking about https://www.pangeareptile.com/store/zoo-med-reptisun-t5-ho-terrarium-hood.html 24" fixture you can use the 5.0 bulb that comes w/ the fixture on the 20 gallon tank it will be perfect for it --- I recommend getting this ordered NOW they ship Fed Ex they sell out quickly and they are fast - this is the better buy shipping is $7

Are you really sure he needs a tank that big? Lol he’s only 3 months old. I’ll look into the uvb, do you think there’s any other causes for what’s going on?

He will not be able to stay in that tank at 10 months old or possibly 6- they grow really fast and the coil is not doing him any good-- I had a 20 gallon for blaze I moved him out at 3 months-- granted he used half the tank till around 5 months then he was using the whole 120 gallon-- please get the UVB changed out asap and you will see a difference in the behavior and his poops- it is possible he could have parasites that too would cause the appetite but roaches are not prone to giving parasites it's the crickets- so w/ that info and what your using for UVB I am leaning towards the UVB- the basking temps and UVB are the most important things in the tank
