Another reason to love Phoenix Worms!

Was reading on the Phoenix Worm Store web site about the lauric acid in the worms. The acid has antimicrobial properties that battle pathogenic protozoa like coccidia and it fights lipid coated viruses like clostridium. Any opinions on whether this is hype or another reason to love them?

Also some of my are turning dark...some black even but still wiggling.Are they still ok to feed?

I tend to be weary of truly believing what I read from the same people who are also trying to get me to buy their product, but there is no disputing PW's are a great feeder

Yes, the dark black worms are still ok.. they get that way before they turn into flies. And you can still feed them when they are flies. However, mine would never eat them then.. They do eat them black though.

Most are still white and wiggly...How long before the black ones turn to flies? My husband might just kill me....Just ordered another batch. Silver is pounding between 20-30 mediums a day so I got the large.Have 3 doz crickets as back up but these worms are AWESOME!

Was looking into silkworms..Any recommendations on where to order from and what size? The space between Silver's eyes is about 3/4 almost 7/8 of an inch. Was thinking mediums for these.

I believe silkworms only come in one size, and because they are soft bodied do not pose a risk of impaction. Silks are a very good feeder, but pricey. www.lindasgonebuggie.com sells them along with a variety of other feeders. I also highly recommend dubia roaches as they are a great feeder and once you get over the fact they are roaches, they aren't so gross. Especially the mediums. www.dubideli.com has a variety of sizes.

They do come in a few sizes.

With soft bodied worms the rule between the eye saying doesn't always come into play.

How big is your dragon length wise?

Medium wouldn't hurt. If they are too small you can let them eat the chow a bit longer before feeding, or just know for next time

As of tonight after her bath Silver is 10 inches totally flattened out asleep and 43 grams. Pretty confident about going to large PWs but not sure about silkworms.They do come in sizes at Mulberry farms but no good pictures.

At that size, i'd go with the small to medium small size.

Better them be too small then too big.

And with silkworms, if kept 78-88 degrees they will grow. Don't store them in the fridge!

Definitely go with the large phoenix worms, and the silkworms are so soft, she can eat them just fine. They are about 1" or a little larger, but not much and super squishy.

Linda's has great prices and closer to Massachusetts. Those horn worms might be too big....Maybe I've just gone worm crazy! Just thrilled to see the growth and hearty appetite. After he ignored them for 3 days and only ate the crickets I thought it was a waste of money.

Actually I believe they can get upwards of 2 inches long, ( I never measured but I definitely had some pretty big silks ;p)

At your dragons size, you definitely don't want to get the adults, or large size.

Yes we have had silks grow to be too big to feed. That took about 4 weeks after hatching and they kind of snuck up on us growing that fast!

I have HUGE hornworms right now from Linda. My 6 month old gobbles them down though.. with guts and all.
