Another New Owner here!

We just got our first bearded dragon a few days ago. It is actually my daughters that I got her for Christmas. She (BD) has a bit of a background. A friend of mine had a friend who was looking for a new home for her bearded dragon because she was moving out of state and could not take her with. My daughter (who is 11) has been asking for one for a while so I asked about her. I was told that this person had rescued it from another owner back in the summer time. Apparently the person who had her, had her in with a very aggressive male who beat her up. She has many missing fingers and tip of her tail missing as a result. The person who I got her from had taken her in and got her back "in shape" I was told everything she needed came with her but after researching I learned she did not have everything she needed (like the right kind of lighting which I am working on now) The day after we got her we gave her a bath/soak. She of course went to the bathroom and she went a lot! TMI here but the first thing she pooped out would not go down my drain so I had to pick it up and it was hard as a rock!! Poor thing must have been really backed up from that. I hope to get her back to great health and so glad I found this forum! One question I have now is I am also noticing she might be shedding. Is there anything I need to do for that or just let it happen?

I'm glad you were able to take her in and get her set up properly. It's a good sign that she had a good poop. She may need some extra hydration to help soften things a bit. Plenty of baths will help with this along with well hydrated feeder bugs and fresh salads. Regular baths will also help with shedding and help to regulate her pooping. Other than that, don't pick at the sheds, just let them happen.

Is it ok to give bath everyday? Is that recommended? I definitely think she was a bit dehydrated when we gave the first bath. She kept sticking her head underwater and was drinking a lot of it. Gave her another bath tonight and she had another big poop with a bit of gas. We actually think she looked thinner after going, almost under weight looking!

I provide a bath every morning. It's up to you though. If she is dehydrated, I suggest a bath at least every few days though. I'm glad to hear she was drinking from her bath, that's a good sign!

Just an update. Leaf is doing a lot better. Just got the new light set up yesterday and after about 24 hrs she is like a different beardie!! We are now seeing her personality. It was so cute seeing her running around and checking things out in my daughter's room. She is even a different color! When we first got her she was very dark with a lot of black on her, now she is a beautiful tan color. Only thing I am a little worried about is her eating. She is eating but not very much. Maybe burmation (spelling) or maybe still getting use to her new invironment? She did have her first normal looking poop today so I would think that is a good sign. ..... Would love to post some pictures but can not figure out how to with my phone.

I'm glad to hear she is doing well! You can browse to the image uploader on your phone to upload photos to your account https://www.beardeddragon.org/useruploads/ and then post them with the XIMG button.

I tried that but does not work. I am able to select my picture but the upload button does nothing.

I've run into that a few times too. Have you tried refreshing the page and then try the upload again? It's still a new feature and being tested out. If it doesn't work, you can upload to tinypic.com and then paste the url to the photo in your thread with the img tag.

Had issues posting before but looks like it is working now! This is a picture of her a week ago and of yesterday. Looks like a totally different beardie!!

It's working now. She is a good size and much lighter colors now.
