Hi,

I am currently feeding my juvie Beardies 2 packs of locusts every day... each each pack contains between 20-30 bugs

i am worried on 2 levels, firstly because i know about the ability of beardies getting fat and also its very expencive as the cost us £40 a week. we also have an Ackie which doesnt eat as much but we still need to make sure he gets fresh food too.. its all mounting up..

so is 2 packs for a 4-5 month old beardie too much or enough??

thanks; troy

as I have never had a young beardie, I cannot give my experience, but what I have read, younger beardies eat lots more bugs then they do as adults. the important thing is to remember that the bugs need to be smaller then the space between your bearded dragon's eyes or it can blockage. some say their beardies eat up to 100 bugs a day depending on age of their beardies. you will also want to introduce veggies if you have not allready. for a really good food guide go to: http://www.beautifuldragons.com/Nutrition.html

rule of thumb is feed them as many bugs as they can eat in 10-15 minutes, and if they are younger, 2-3 times a day.

Yeah i was told all of this before i got them, I was just really worried as it seems like a lot for such small animals lol.

I have read that list before and have absorbed most of the good stuff on there.

I feed them lots of veggies also. They love pak choi and kale more than anything else I have tried them on.

Cheers for the advice. I was just worried about them getting fat is all :D

I'll sleep easier.

If it makes you feel any better my little Elliott is about 16 weeks and is a bottomless pit! He eats at least 100 crickets a day (3rds) and on top of that he eats his veg as well. Me thinks he's going to be a big boy like his daddy when he gets older LOL

Nar is 7 weeks old and eats over 100 crickets most days along with 20 to 30 phoenix worms and his veggies. I've nicknamed him Hoss!

This makes me feel so much better! Elliott usually eats at least 150ish crickets a day. I love the nickname! I've nicknamed Elliott, Ellie belly because if he keeps this up he's gonna be a right fatty LOL

If its any consolation... My female is called Brian... And she is the most acrobatic beardie I saw until today..

He was called spideman and he managed to jump 18 inches from his basking spot to a hanging plant... Only £175 for the bouncy fella

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
