Hi all,
Chester has recently been constantly stressed out. Her beard is black all the time but not puffed up. I'm not sure why but she's not showing any signs of illness or anything as far as I can tell. When she had a respiratory infection, she was really stressed but she got over the infection. Her stress marks never went away though. She eats a lot still. Poops regularly. Basks normally. The only thing is that sometimes she'll try to sleep early but I think only when there's too much happening during the day. I handle her regularly, she loves exploring. She has things to climb on in her tank and she's pretty active when she's outside of it. She seems slightly jumpy but she's always been like that, very alert. Would there be any reason why she's stressed?? I took her to the vet last month and he said she was very healthy besides the RI, but even then the RI was in its early early beginning stages and she's good now. The only time she doesn't seem to be stressed is when she falls asleep outside of her tank... but in her tank, she seems to still have some stress marks when she's asleep. She does seem to be constantly shedding because she's growing a lot but I've never seen her so stressed out even when she is shedding. It's just been non stop for the past couple months but the vet can't find anything healthwise that causes it. So if anyone has any ideas, please let me know!
Here are some more details:
Her enclosure is a 40 gallon tank. Hot side fluctuates between 100-110 and cool side between 75-85. Using paper towels as substrate still.
She has a hide spot on cool and hot side and bask spot on the hot side ofc. A log that she likes to climb on. And I have a reptisun 10.0 T5 HO UVB light for her.
I feed her twice a day. A mixture of greens (mustard, dandelion, collards) and fruit (blueberries, mango, papaya). She gets lots of dubia Roaches and worms to eat. Phoenix worms currently but she's had silkworms and hornworms in the past. She eats a lot of Roaches and worms on top of her veggies. I dust the Roaches and veggies with calcium. The worms I'll dust with a multivitamin twice a week.
I handle her almost every day and she's comfortable with being handled, loves exploring. She's 7 months, almost 8 months old.
Since she's been eating more and more veggies, her poop has started getting watery but it doesn't smell abnormally bad. I'm pretty sure it's just the vegetables causing it to be runny. The urates look normal. Sometimes her food won't digest enough though because every time she eats, it's always a feeding frenzy. The only time she'll take her time would be when I handfeed her... otherwise she seems normal healthwise... I'm not entirely sure what it could be besides the shedding but it doesn't seem like it would make her stress out this bad. She never stressed like this in the past when she's shed...
