Alucard's Journey

I'll try not to make this introduction too upsetting.

After the sudden and tragic passing of my two year old, Simon, I had an empty enclosure and a beardie sized hole in my heart.

Simon was buried in my front yard, and a red maple tree was planted on her grave site as a memorial. Richter came to show his respects. As time passes, this whole area will be converted into a beautiful garden in her honor. Rest in peace, Simon. You were truly loved.

I'm on day two now and am still grieving horribly, but if I could turn her empty enclosure into a great home for another dragon and give them a good life, why not start now.

Alucard has been introduced to the house. She will never replace Simon and she knows she has big shoes to fill. She was also taken out to pay her respects to Simon's memorial site. She is a normal morph little girl beardie, just like Simon, and has a lot of spunk and a big appetite.

She's about two months old, 8.5", and 32g.
She will inevitably lose the very tip of her tail, but it looks like this is healing well and will not cause her any concern.

I look forward to the love and laughter she brings to me and appreciate her presence turning Simon's home into something positive again.

Thomas likes to bob at my boyfriend when he thinks he's being sneaky and tries to startle the dragon. I told boyfriend he better just wave and accept it.

The video is a few months old but definitely one of the times I got him on video being super into it.
He's never head bobbed at me, but he's done the passive tiny head bobs at random and I take it as though he's agreeing with what I just said, or in some cases I pretend he's arguing with me.

I tried to wave back to Alucard today and scared the crap out of her, she went flying across her enclosure. I guess I can't wave back :/ I also scared her with whistling. I'm apparently not allowed to have fun

I miss her greatly. It has now been a week since her passing, almost exactly, as it's currently 8:39am and she passed away 8:40am on 5/4/17. It doesn't hurt nearly as badly anymore, but it still hurts a lot. I think about her all the time and still have to fight back tears, but time will heal.

They seem to wave a bunch when they're new and settling in, or in my case, when they see another dragon. On day one, I had Richter in the window again, she saw, started waving, he saw, started head bobbing, so I'm like.. alright... I think Richter needs to get out of sight again lol

Haha! Fun is not on the approved list of activities.

These activities include: feeding me (but only what I feel like eating at the time), loving me (but only if I'm in the mood), preparing my salad (which I will decorate with, of course), cleaning up after me (frequently), gently lifting me and placing me exactly where I want to go (otherwise I'll just jump, and you know how that scares you)... There are a few others, but mostly just feeding me. :lol:

We frequently get stink-eye for whistles, and also the "Mom, you're so embarrassing!" hiding under the rock when anything involves dancing or singing. :roll:

I used to tell my cat he was embarrassing me when he'd clean himself. I'd whisper it loudly at him like we were in pubic :lol: aw I miss him.

Richter does not mind the whistling, but I do it often so I'm sure Alucard will figure it out... eventually.
Fun activities for Alucard so far: pooping, watching her food instead of eating it (unless it's handed right to her), and waving at Richter.
Fun activities for Richter: llaazzzyyyyy, must be carried everywhere, likes to plop, the window is pretty cool, outdoors is cool but the leash sucks, my food must contain calcium or I'll hate it, that food I loved that you bought just for me? Hate it. Carry me.

I gave her her first bath today! She drank immediately, but my intention was to give her a good scrub down as she smelled a little smelly. Didn't like it at first, but enjoyed pancaking on my hand and letting water run on her back.

Thanks all, she's a super cutie. Her head is never facing the same direction more than a second, I swear. Very active and curious which makes photos harder :|
