We had some good progress today. He was sitting right up at the glass today and didn't run away like usual when I came in the room.
I opened the door right in front of him, changed his water, put some food in and picked up his poo (lucky me). He didn't move a muscle. This is most likely out of fear but and least didn't take a leap of faith across his viv like yesterday.

After about 10 minutes of me rearranging his house he even stood still to receive a chin and back rub.
Was not the slightest bit impressed when I misted him, but that's life :D

He posed for a good 10 photos or so but I wont bore you with all of them

EDIT: The worms I put in about 30 minutes ago have already been gobbled up. This is the first time he has eaten with the bedroom door wide open. So we've overcome a couple things today.

Now I've just gotta get him drinking better :p

Back hiding in his favourite spot.

Well done the both of you! Bilbo had a soak today in some warm after after I cleaned out his viv then had some hang out time on my hand then he decided to run up my arm on to my shoulder, its getting to the point where I think long sleeved tops may be needed, really not in to having 20 little needles jabbing me

I made an enquiry today at a graphic design place on the my local industrial estate to see if they can make my back ground, its only an image but needs to be 1.5 high and 6 wide, going to have it curve around the side. Your tank has potential with a bit of imagination and a dash of elbow grease lol! just remember, shelves and platforms look nice but in a small viv they really can kill the ground space, and in the wild these guys have a lot of that, at the moment Bilbo has 6sq foot but when he is an adult he'll have 12ft with his new viv, being able to climb off the ground it important but not to a height, its not necessary, but also ground/floor space is important and when a 18 inch dragon is in a viv that is 48 x 24 that just does not seem enough in my eyes? I appreciate most people have a budget and space issues, but when he is fully grown/18 months old consider a slightly bigger viv, youll have loads of fun setting it up to.

im planning to go 1/3 calci sand 2/3 stone, going to et some smallish random shaped paving slabs and dot them about, im buzzed about doing it, but wont be doing it until I get the new viv, little while yet.

Pics aint boring bud, post them if they are good!!!! I love looking at them and sharing mine too, this is the one place I feel I can really go on and on and on about beardies! im sure the missus gets bored eventually hahaha

Pretending to be shy.

Today was my first day back at work after being off for a couple weeks. I spent my whole day texting anyone who was at home like:
-DID YOU REMEMBER TO FEED HIM?
-DID HE EAT IT?
-WHATS HE DOING RIGHT NOW!?

Im gonna take out all the shelves and have a rearrange when I've recovered from Christmas splurging.
Ideally I would put him in the biggest cage I could find. But there a distinct lack of places to put him in my house. I might set up a second desk next to the one he is currently on and look into getting a L shaped cage. Its about the only solution I have at the moment.
He's fine where he is for the next 6-8 months though. He's gonna be out the cage a lot when he gets used to being handled luckily.
1:2 - Sand:Stone sounds good. Give you the better option of being able to feed him on the stone side too so he doesn't munch too much sand. (Not that calci sand is really that harmful, if at all)

Little man is onto his first shed with us now. So its gonna be bath time soon :D

Bud that is just like me, minus the feeding lol, my missus want do it, but she will remove pooh, some thing I advise doing asap soon as you see it get it out.

Got back from work at just after 930 so lights out, I have some pics

BEFORE I WENT TO WORK

WHEN I GOT BACK FROM WORK I FOUND THIS

My other half said to me when I got home, I thought there was another one in there hahaha

its a good piece, bit shrivelled up, I took these big pieces out, but left some smaller but still obvious pieces in there.
QUICK TIP: Is your beardie getting enough calcium? if your unsure, leave some shed in the viv, if he/she eats it then they are not getting enough calcium.

Bilbo has never eaten any so im confident he is ok, once he starts to shed its over very quickly, maybe the toes and tail take the longest to come off

Well he has Calci worms as a staple. So im positive hes getting plenty :)

My Geckos used to love eating their shed, I barely saw any of it.

What time do you have your lights going on/off?
Mine are timed 8-8 currently until the summer.

yeah that's true

Bilbo has never eaten it, I believe it is high in calcium, I guess it would be in severe cases, but just heard it along the way and thought id pass it on :)

my lights are on 0745 / off 2115 they seem to be ok for him, does not seem tired so im happy to keep them as they are for now as it suits me too, originally it was on 0730 / off 2200 but he was retiring to sleep so I though id change it for him, maybe when he older I will add an extra 30 mins in the even. First feed would be at just after 11 after my 1st shift then again at 2 before my second shift, on a day off I keep the times the same but maybe see if he wants to eat one last time at 1800 if he didn't eat much during the rest of the day, this will be cut down but as he is still young and growing I feel it is worth while

I plop food in at about 8:30am before I walk out the door.
If someone is home they can put some more in for him, otherwise he gets a second round when I get home about 6:45pm, but he doesn't usually eat them.

The calci worms I have are quite fat so he only seems to eat one lot a day anyways. And hes getting a belly already (although he was a bit skinny when I got him, so maybe it just seems like it). So I know he's not going hungry.

He takes himself off to his sleeping spot around 7:30pm when he's done with his evening bask. So I let the lights go off at 8:00 for now. Ill go up to 14 hours of light in the summer.

cool, yeah Bilbo was tiny when I got him, very skinny, not now though, I think in the summer im screwed no matter what I do with my timers, I think ill just leave them as they are, I live in a 2 bed cottage and our bedroom is the attic, its pretty big but has windows all around so In the summer its pretty light in here not much we can do? maybe black out blinds? also can get pretty warm in here just hope it don't mess with his temps??!!?

You'll have time to adjust the temps when the time comes, just get some weaker bulbs I guess, as the viv will be hot already. Not much you can do about light, they'd be getting plenty of it in the wild!

I change the timers to correspond with the seasons a bit (and my schedule). In the summer lights are on until 9:30 or so. They come on at 6:30a no matter what because that's when I need to do breakfast/bath/medicine before work. The hot room will be tougher. I'd put the lights on an adjustable stand so you can raise them as needed. You can also put them on a lamp dimmer so you can adjust them a bit that way.

Im fortunate that the room he's in stays the same all year round pretty much. With no heating on in this cold weather the room stays around 25 degrees, when its about 3 degrees outside.
I do have an adjustable basking lamp fortunately, just in case summer gets a bit too hot.

I guess in sone respect Im lucky on the temp side of things, we get nice low temperatures around 17-18 degrees in his Viv at night, on average, once when it was -9 outside his tank went down to 16.3. I know that's still ok not was getting bloody close to not being ok that was when I woke up ay 6am our central heating comes on at 630am so all was ok. I'm sure wise will he ok temp wise.

I find that the colder the room is the better his temps are, as we spend a bit of time down stairs and when we go out for the day I crack open a window, brings the room down to about 18c and the temps in the Viv are way better and stable

As for lighting I honestly see absolutely no point in changing when mine come on or off as I have a light room anyway so he will have the natural light coming in slowly anyway

These guys look like the most uncomfortable sleepers, I got home from work late to see him already asleep.
He's 'lying' almost dead vertical, clinging onto an ornament with his back legs and half his body just dangling mid-air off the edge of a shelf.

How on earth do these guys work.

This picture probably isn't very clear, but you can kinda see what I mean. Looks odd in person :p

Haha that's cool, yeah Bilbo sleeps on the climbing wall most nights, Abbie (my other half) say she is worried he will fall off, as of yet he has never fallen off even when proper asleep, Bilbo had only one feed today (we went to an ape rescue center with family), I tried to make a video but my son interrupted me, I will another time and post to youtube and put a link on here, he ate possibly 50-60 in 10 mins!!! Its mental how fast that guy eats! My math is a bit pants this time of night (not to mention the beer) but that's like 1 every 10 secs right?

I really should get to bed! Got work at 7 lol, bought watch dogs on xbox one today, did I get time to play it, haha of course not lol

Has cloud started to peel yet?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
