LOL I was doing the same thing today. I was telling the guys at work I gotta go home take care of the insects then feed the dragons LOL. I want to get some dubia going its just getting the cash to do it LOL. Plus no one local has them so I have to get them shipped.

Im looking forward to the day that I'm feeder free. (meaning I don't have to buy any)
I think by the end of the summer I will be in good shape.

I am looking for that day too, but I dunno don't look like its gonna be any time soon. I have some male and female dubia probably 10 female and 3 male or so and a few large nymphs waiting on those. Then with the supers I am just waiting for the beetles to do there thing and then switch them in a couple weeks. I plan to switch mine out every 2 weeks it that what you do? I was also thinking of doing the screen thing on bottom of rack for beetles to see how that would work out. Less changing over etc.

I am only a couple months into this so I am new too but once I had beetles I did switch over every 2-3 weeks. I think it should actually be done every week specially if you have as many beetles as I do.
2 nights ago I made a screen setup. The jury is out on whether it works as well or not. Apparently if you have different sizes of worms in one bin they will prey on each other. I figured if there was lots of food they wouldn't so I have a few large carrots in that bin.
Also I am wondering if the females will just lay their eggs on the screen as they do prefer to bury the eggs. I guess if they have eggs they can't hold em in.

I dunno but I guess you will find out LOL. I am curious to see how your screen thing works out. I seen vids on youtube etc. but i don't trust what I have seen on there lol. So hopefully it will work out for you if it does I will try it out. I really cant wait to do the dubia as well. I want to give my dragons a variety, and that is what I am hoping for. I don't think I will ever do crix. But I don't know, it is always a possibility.

I guess the reason I started doing it is the cost of the feeders. Every store retail here sells supers 10 to 15 cents a piece WOW I get them 22 for a thousand. But when you look at the breeding it doesn't take anything for cost really other then some taters lol. And roaches WOW that is another story LOL they are expensive as well so that is my purpose for breeding them, that and no one has them local NO one LOL.

Ya I have seen the screen vids too. Some people use a substrate o er the screen some don't. I can't see the eggs falling thru an nice of substrate. Most of them anyway. So my beetles are directly on the screen.

I haven't seen them not on substrate. I see that most people use regular oatmeal for substrate but other then that not much else. :D

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
