"all-in-one" lamps

The dragon I'm getting has one of the "all-in-one" lamps which I know is not sufficient. There is a T5 UVB tube coming via mail. My question is this - if the all-in-one is maintaining tank temps OK, can I keep it or would you replace it with a halogen flood no matter what?

It depends on the brand and how old it is. If it's maintaining proper temps you can probably keep it as a basking light until it burns out although the UVB output may degrade (which is fine if you have a T5 set up). How far is the mercury vapor bulb above the basking area?

Definitely keep it as a basking bulb as long as it works, no need for another heat lamp until this stops working .
