So I was going through pictures from the last couple weeks, deleting the blurry and otherwise uninteresting ones. I had 4 videos, all of which I took while Felix was almost 6 months old and shedding his head for the first time (since I've had him). I didn't notice it on the small camera screen but was shocked to see my little guy doing exactly what I had read about before I got him. For those who wish to scar themselves for life here's the clip of him bugging out...

This was taken on 2/2/12 so since this point he's finished shedding his head and remaining legs and the skin on his body just started coming off after his bath a hour or so ago.

Thats a beautiful animal. I don't think I've ever seen either my male or female do that before.

Shanny- Same! If I hadn't read about it on the forums before I would have thought he was possessed or something lol

Darkon- Thank you :) Maybe they do it while you're not home? I don't know if they all do it for only a couple seconds but you're bound to catch one of them at it at some point so be ready!

The first time we saw eye bulging, it was our anole, before we got a beardie. The anole's eyes are so small that we thought we were seeing things. Of course on a beardie you can really see the bulging.

Oh, I didn't know it was a general reptile trait. I just assumed it was a funny little behavior reserved for the Beardie. Although they all shed so it makes sense.

Oo, I wonder if snakes do it... that would be strange

Bugeyes! :D
Tsam does them as a part of his regular morning stretch. Hates to be caught on camera and always catches me sneaking up on him.
Snakes don't do bugeyes (or at least, jungle corns don't. I don't know about weirder species, just personal experience), they have a chemical reaction just between scale layers that lifts it off instead. That's what makes them go "blue" or "milk" eyed for a little while. If you spot a snake with opaque eyes, steer clear - they're almost blind at that time and often aggressive as a result.

Haha, thankfully felix doesn't seem to mind having a camera shoved in his face ^^

I've never had a snake but I watched way to much animal planet as a kid and seen a few different shows where they showed snakes that were imporperly cared for and the skin built up in layers over their eyes. Seems like blindness can be a difficult thing to overcome across species.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
