Agression when being woke up?

I just went to go pick up Reptar to move him into another container so I can clean his cage. Ive woken him up many times while he was sleeping before and all he did was find a comfortable spot to go back to sleep. But today, he opened his mouth as wide as it would go, and started hissing and trying to bite me. I had him on my shirt and I had to put on a glove to grab him and put him back. What could be wrong with him? He's NEVER acted like that. He's usually so sweet and loves being held.

was he in a deeper sleep? I can usually wake up my girl if shes sleeping on me to put her back in her cage but if she is in a deep sleep she freaks out and black beards like you described.

I'm sure she was in a deep sleep and you terrified her when you picked her up. If you think about it, wouldn't you react if someone picked you up when you were sleeping that hard?

My 2 Month Old, did the same thing. I'm Pretty sure it just Freaked Him Out and Startled/Scared Him, and His Instinct was Attack/Defense. And I have Moved him from my Bed to his Tank Many Time's while he was Sleeping and it Happened once. So now I just make sure I move a little Slower when Moving him as to not wake him up or Not to Freak him out.
