Aggression

I've had my beardie, Fred, for about a month or 2 now. I got him from a friend who wasn't taking very good care of him. I think he is about a year old but I'm not sure. A few weeks ago he just started eating from my hand. I was able to hold him and never had any problems with him. The other day my husband tried to feed him the way I do and he got really aggressive and tried to bite him. Since then he hasn't calmed down. Anytime we even go near his tank he puffs up and hisses. If I go really slow and no one is in the room sometimes I can pick him up. But the whole time his beard is black and if I even look the wrong way he hisses. Most days my husband can't get near the tank without Fred attacking. What can I do?

Put an article of clothing that smells like you in their viv.

move slowly, and pet/ pick up inside the viv over the course of a week or so before taking out.

Take him out very close to bedtime, so he is tired. Then let him lay on your chest and snuggle.

I'm gathering that your beardie doesn't like men? :shock: Mabey it had a bad experince with a human before you got him. If something like that did happen it might just take a while for you to gain his trust. BDmommie said everything right tho. You could aslo talk to him alot. I talk to my beardie all the time.
