Aggresive

My 4 1/2 month old beardie is aggresive at times for no reason. I hold her at least twice a day for like 5 mins at a time. I have all the proper lighting and what not and feed her good. Will she ever get out of this aggresive behavior when she's older or something. Like is there a "mature" age for beardies? And lastly, is this normal for a beardie to have an aggresive stage like this?

What do you mean by aggression? Hissing, biting, blackening of the bearded? Or just squirmy? I know when they are young they tend to be squirmy and don't like to be handled much but the more you handle them etc. when they are older they will calm down and be as sweet as can be.

I have never seen my bearded dragon bite anyone including me, or ever try to bite for that matter. But if she does flick her lightly on the mouth when she comes at you. I did that with my brothers iquana when teaching it not to bite. Trust me, they will put up a fight at first but they will stop after you flick them once or twice. And by flicking - I mean a gently flick. One that if you flicked yourself you could hardly feel it. Remember they are a lot smaller.

Haha! Well by aggresive I mean what you all said, hissing, black beard, and OPENING mouth like she's gonna bite but she has never bit anyone. But Im hopeing shell shape up soon

Sorry for the late reply! Just give her lots of love and attention. Did you get her as a baby? Was she a rescue? Who were her previous owners? Sometimes if beardies are neglected and abused they can be pretty mean, especially if you get them as adults. I got my boy when he was a month old and he got plently of care and attention. LOL he very rarely turns his beard black and only when you really mess with him. Like the time he got impacted and I had to open his mouth to give him liquids, his beard turned black, but never once has he hissed, or opened his mouth aggressively at me. He knows better lol and now he's spoiled! He sleeps in his little 'sleeping bag' on our nightstand when the lights go off at night. If I don't take him out he'll pace and scratch on the glass til I let him out :lol:

haha offtopic but anyways, youre beardie doesn't seem too bad. Just give proper care, attention and love and she'll come around. Most of them do.
