Aggessive isn't even the word!

So about Jack...he is about 5 months old and he is still in shed. He has been in shed since Nov. 2. If you stick your hand in his cage and even act like you are going to touch him he puffs his beard out and hisses at you. He didn't act like this until I moved him into his new cage and he's been in there since the first of November. I have no idea what to do. I loved playing with him, but I can't even open his cage without him hissing and getting defensive. Do bearded dragons go through like a puberty stage or something because this is just awful! He will only let me pet him for a few seconds after I feed him crickets but that is it. I hand feed him a salad all the time and he doesn't mind...but the second I try to pet him-GAME OVER!....HELP!

they do go through a pissy phase...also two things that you mentioned could factor in his behavior....new cage and in shed. A lot of times they are pissy when they shed. They also may still be getting used to their surroundings, its almost been 2 weeks but sometimes it takes them longer to adjust. I would not worry about it

Be patient! could be age, shedding, relocation stress, temps...lots of factors. Im sure ur lil one will come around!

my beardie is 5 mths to 6 now and i agree i think they go through puberty lol yoshi used to be attentative want to come to the glass and want to come out...now hes chilled and only wants to know when its feeding time....relocation stress can hack them off and they can get grumpy when they shed......give him what he needs ie food and try and leave him alone for a bit but still talk to him in his cage... i find this helps me....hope it helps you too
