Hello I was worrying if your beardiea are afraid of being out side I was using a sun glo MVP lamp but it darted affecting their www so I took it off and now they just have a basking light so since i ordered the reptisub 10 and not sure when it will Arive I take them outside for a couple of hours but they seem afraid they'll just be in the shade and gapin? Are they just afraid? And it's not above 110 degrees it's like 75-80 ouside. Do they use the open mounth like a defense technique?

My baby bd is scared for the first 10-15 min of being outside. After that she clams down and enjoys the sun light. Are you holding them? Or do you put them in some kind of cage? I noticed if I hold her in my hand she stays scared. If I put her in some kind of container, cage or let her run around on me she's just fine. Hope it helps

Mine doesn't like going out at all. He looked the most stressed I've ever seen him when I took him outside. They probably aren't going to like it at first and some just never want to go outside that much even as adults. I would continue taking them out for short periods and talk quietly to them and hold them a little if they will allow it, to show them that you're there and nothing bad will happen to them. If they are big enough, you can try a harness so that you can hold them which might calm them down even more.

If it is a glass tank it could be getting much hotter than you think. Also uvb won't come through the glass. My avatar is Bogas outside cage. She gets spooked by things overhead so I usually have a cloth over part of the cage. I actually saw a hawk land on her cage one day! That spooked me pretty much too!

Their mouths were open because they were way too hot. As Wizbee mentioned, it's much, much hotter in the glass tank, even with a screen top. ! That could very easily kill them. You could try getting a kiddie swimming pool and put it in half sun, half shade. Put a large basking platform in the middle for them.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
