still semi new to this forum and ive see alot of people on here saying they have saved alot of beardies from craigslist and things like that. i go on craigslist to look at what is in my area and see 4 seperate posts involving dragons. every one of them was very bad off. 1 was 2 years old and in a 10gallon tank with what seemed to be gravel from someones driveway with just a heat lamp and a hot rock no aparent UVB. another was in a plastic tub with no aparent anything but just a heat rock, not even any substrate :( i feel so bad i really do how do people do this to these animals? why get one if you cannot take care of it even with the basic necesities? so what im asking of you guys who rescue beardies on here..the only reason i didnt call these people right away and say hey ill take your bearded dragon is because i do not have the room for more large vivs like mine and i feel like my one beardie that i currently have would be rediculously spoiled compared to the others who would be provided with the basics. how do you guys do it? i cant believe how some people buy these animals with no research on husbandry. like when new people come on here having oawned a dragon for a long time asking why thier beardies are sick and when questioned about husbandry they say they have a heat lamp. i get so frustrated and sick to my stomach. :puke: why dont you do research on how to keep them healthy and only when to help them get better :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I found my first 2 sweethearts on craigslist. They were very neglected. It made me sick! :angry5: The guys was an adult and obviously didn't know anything about beardies and apparently didn't bother to learn anything either. He kept them in a dank, damp basement, no UVB, a heat mat for under tank INSIDE on the floor of the tank. Only a 40 watt bulb to try to heat them in a 55 and 40 tank. They were covered in poo and old stuck shed, under weight, malnourished, both had respiratory infections form the high humidity in the damp basement, never had supplements and fed kale and carrots every couple days when he remembered. Oh and he was proud he fed them crickets once in a while as a treat :angry5: :banghead: They were juvies, 12 and 13 inches long but only weighted 120gms and 144 gms My male Talon has a deformed upper jaw, a sign of MBD, and chronic respiratory issues form the ordeal so we fight for his health all the time. My female Moya has just now made it to health after months of care. Their vet knows them well after over 10 vet visits each since I rescued them August 2011, 7 months ago.
I'm not a violent person but for that guy I'd make an exception.

I just don't know how people can do this!

I also have 2 other rescue beardies but they were in good condition, it was a different situation.

My husband and I are investing in more set-ups so we can rescue more of these helpless little ones.
I know me....I'll keep the ones I can rescue and love and pamper them for the rest of their lives.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
