Hi!
I am a new Beardy owner, and I adopted a 2-year-old Beardy from a family who didn't know how to care for one. His name is Paarthurnax or Snax for short. I made a few mistakes when I first made his enclosure. Some of these mistakes were not giving him a place to hide, and calcium sand substrate. With advice from other forums and my local pet store I think I managed to create a nice home for Snax. He seems happy and runs around it every morning (He mostly basks in the afternoon). I just wanted some opinions on it. Is it good or bad, should I change some things? All advice is welcome.
For Extra info on what is in the Enclosure, he has a hammock that he adores (He often sleeps on it). Driftwood bought from my local pet store. A half-log also from my pet store. In the very corner is an unplugged heat rock (It got too hot and I didn't want Snax to burn himself, but that was his favorite place from his last family so I don't want to get rid of it). Finally, his substrate is slate.
We have two heat lamps that mimic sunlight. The temperature for his basking spot is 105 degrees, and the coolest spot (near his food and water) is 87 degrees.
As for the paper, it was an attempt to get him to stop attacking his own reflection. It worked, but I have a poster ordered to replace it. The poster is going to cover both sides and the back of the cage. The poster on the back you see now was made of a weird paper, and he still attacked where the poster was. Mainly where the paper is now. Both paper and poser are on the outside of the Terrarium.
Oh, and before I forget, as you may see his tail is short. The previous family said he got it bitten off by an older Beardy before they brought him.
Here is a Picture of his Enclosure:
