Hi every one hope your all well. Just a quick one, I have a 7 year old female bearded dragon and she seems quite lonely so have been thinking about getting her a female friend as I don't want to bread and don't like the thought of them fighting, will two females be OK together the one I am interested in buying is a 2year old so she should be the same size as my girl, I just want her to have a friend and some one who can chill out with her, my dragons viv is 4ft by 2ft by 2ft would that be ok for 2 adults, any advice would be great. Thanks hunnys..... lisa x

They are solitary animals in the wild. Dragons don't get lonely. Its always a chance housing two together. Is it worth maybe having injuries or death?

She's not lonely. I promise you. Bearded dragons are solitary animals that only come together in the wild to mate. They don't "miss" interacting with other dragons because that is not something they would ever do over the course of their normal lifetime in the wild.

That being said, there are some who have managed to successfully house two females together, but it's impossible to know how your beardie or the new one would handle the situation until it's maybe too late. Even if she tolerated another beardie in the viv and the new one tolerated her, you definitely won't be *improving* their quality of life and overall happiness by housing them together. The only two possible outcomes here are fighting or tolerance. "Love" or friendship or whatever is not a possibility.

Cohabitation, with any two genders, is a very bad idea. Bearded dragons are solitary animals in the wild and you never know when they might fight. If you are considering getting another dragon, please consider using a seperate viv. Read this as well. A very good article. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=154908 :)

She's not lonely and certainly doesn't want a 'friend' bearded dragon :p It's like putting two spiders in one web, it just doesn't work :)

I do agree with ClydesGirl. Remember beardies are social, thats why they make great pets, if you give her attention when you are home she will not be lonely. I have my beardie cage in the living room, that way on days I dont take her out she can watch what every one is doing. If I am not around the dog and 2 cats are, so she is constantly getting stimulation. Is this a proven science, well no, but it doesnt hurt. Good luck on your decision...

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
