Advice, drinking

Hey everyone,

Here is the scoop. Bandit will not drink....and never has drank water. I got him when he was about a month old and now he is 8 months and I have never been able to get him to drink. When he was little I tried the 'dropper' technique...plus...I left a water dish in there too, just in case. Never drank. And to this day he never does. He is more healthy than I am. He had a vet visit not too long ago for his broken leg accident and the vet said he was in very good condition. So, im guessing he is not really dehydrated, but im just wondering why he wont drink, and if anyone has advice to help me get him to drink. thanks guys!

You can trick him into intaking water by putting a small amount of water on his veggies?

You will almost never see a dragon drink. Its not to say they dont but its rare.
I keep waterbowls in all my tanks that a dragon can climb into to soak themselves.
I also soak my dragons 1 to 2 times a week for hydration.

Yea, I usually spray his food with some water and I give him baths 1-2 a week. So maybe thats why he wont drink? Just thought I would see if any people had ideas, or if that was normal. Thank you!

You should keep at the 'dropper' technique. At first my beardie wouldn't drink at all but i was persistent, every other day or so when she was out of the viv i'd use a pipette and put a few drops on her nose and she would instinctively lick it off. Failing that just bathe once or twice a week.

TheWolfmanTom is right - you will not usually see them drink. Misting veggies will keep them hydrated, as will soaking them. Chances are if he's not drinking, he's not thirsty! I taught my boy to drink from a syringe in just one day, so it's easy to monitor water intake. But they're pretty good about getting moisture from their bugs & greenery.

when I soak my beardies they always drink the water... a lot of it. They will drink until their bellies are noticeably larger. Its pretty interesting to watch them drink too. I didn't know that it was that rare to see them drink. Maybe I should take a video next time

i agree with this if you mist veggies and they get eaten and twice a week he gets a bath then he is getting plenty. these are desert animals where it might rain one a month. i mist veggies and bath once a week and only have one that i will see lick at the salad bowl for water. oh i also mist lightly threw out the week.

someone once told me that a dragon will soak up water threw its vent while in the bath, not sure if this is true or not just thought i would throw that out here and see if anyone else has herd the same thing.

I've rarely seen kevin drink. He will sometimes lick water off his nose but thats it so I mist his veggies everyday. He doesn't seem to need more.

I put water in his veggie bowl sometimes and my friend only has one bowl for water and veggies.
