I got a baby beardie from petco almost a year ago, she is the only living baby from her clutch and several others they had due to ADV. Our vet has said not to get our hopes up too high because she won’t thrive. She ended up getting mouth rot so I had to begin syringe feeding. It seems she caught mouth rot because she rubs her face constantly because of neuro problems. She also kind of “bites” at the air, because of this Iv assist fed her for several months. She’s growing quickly (almost a year old and is 73 grams) she doesn’t show interest in eating live food or any food on her own. Should I stop assist feeding for a few days to see if she’d eat?

Poor little thing. You're doing a good job with her though ! You might try disabling crickets [ to slow them down ] or feeding her very slow worms like Phoenix or Calciworms [ bsfl ] I don't know if I'd go many days without food though. Send a p.m. to Drache613 [ one of the mods. ] , she is an expert at helping ADV dragons.

Thank you! Iv tried to research giving them CBD oil for her neuro problems but haven’t found much.

Oh the poor thing - my rescue beardie had to be syringe fed also - she couldnt walk or move due to malnutrition - syringe fed as well as hand fed her small dubai roaches with a tweezers, I literally shoved them between her lips until she opened her mouth. She would chew them no problem, but the getting them in was me opening her mouth very gently and putting them in.
Nona used to"bite at the air" also - it was because thats all she new about eating was the syringe feeding, that all she understood. Hopefully she'll stop doing that once she feels better.
Rephashy wasn't available at the time for us, but if she's more accustomed to syringe and still not picking up eating on her own, hopefully it will come eventually, but I would, to get food in her, either use the Rephashy and syringe feed her or make what I created for Nona and she seemed to like it and get good nutrition her.
Fluckers crafted cuisine soft pellets, organic baby food (green beans, squash, peas, chicken, apple, banana)
Mush up the pellets add the baby food in there as flavoring and nutrition, small amounts obviously - add also any meds, calcium, vitamins
I syringe fed Nona about 4 times a day. after 2 weeks of doing this, we started with the live feeders - tiny superworms, calci worms and tiny dubais that I would literally push into her mouth, I did the same when she started to switch over to solid veggies, cut very small and would put right to her mouth. When she was fisnished being fed - she would squirm a certain way and try to move away.
I have video on our "technique" - but I don't know how to download on here.... any suggestions on how to download video??

I think I’m going to try to assist feed small Dubia, Iv tried it before and she chews and eats no problem she’s even gone for a few on her own. Before she got mouth rot she ate on her own perfectly fine (she ate SO much) I feel like maybe she’s just become depended on the syringe perhaps

Probably just needs a little bump start in her feeding to get her going again. We all need that after we’ve gotten really sick and recovering. I’ll keep you and your baby in my thoughts and put positive dragon energy out there. :)

Thank you! Everyone is so sweet here ❤️ Coming from beardie Facebook groups they can be pretty confrontational there

I just joined this group myself - there are some very knowledgeable people on here that really do care. Hoping for the best for you. Glad you have a good vet also that’s in it - so important.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
