Hi all!
So my adult beardie slim used to absolutely love his veggies... I'd usually give him greens or escarole with squash baby food and some calcium & bee pollen and he'd gobble it all up. But then he went into a several month-long brumation in which he ceased eating entirely, and now that he's out of it and eating again, he seems to only want to eat feeders...
I noticed that sometimes he'll nibble some of the baby food and calcium from the top of the veggies but will leave them largely untouched otherwise. He goes NUTS for crickets and hornworms and wax worms (I was feeding him them for a little while to help him gain weight... he lost some substantial weight from his brumation).
I know it's not typical for them to lose weight from brumation... I'm thinking his metabolism slowed down and even though he was out of brumation for some time, he was just being picky and not eating ($350 and a fecal, vet checkup, and impaction X Ray later, I was told there was no reason for him to be eating. I eventually just started force feeding him critical care and that brought his metabolism and appetite back up).
So up until now, I've been happy to feed him whatever he would eat so he would gain weight, but now that he's back to a healthy weight I need to get him back on the right track with nutrition. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
