Adult Bearded Dragon Requirements

So I been thinking about getting an Adult Bearded Dragon on my birthday next month, and I need help on what stuff to get. I've owned some before(young ones), so I have a good chunk of information in my brain.
My Setup:
Repti Sun Fluorescent Tube 10.0
Normal Household bulb
55 gal. Tank
Paper Towel Substrate
Hydrometer
Digital Temp Reader
Neodymium Bulb(basking)
I feel like the basking bulb I had wasn't good enough, and I feel like I should get another one, and maybe a bigger tank like a 75 gal, any suggestions on what I should to change? :blob8:

Climbing logs and limbs are good for exercise, they need the simulation because they can get lazy. They all need them for basking. You can adjust the basking temps by log height....simple.
A 75 would be better but the 55 will do for now until you can get a bigger viv.

You may need to test out different wattages to get the right temperature range in the tank. I'd avoid neodymium coated bulbs because they filter yellow and might cause everything to look distorted to your dragon. I'd stick with a plain basking light like the ZooMed Repti Basking spot or a PAR38 halogen flood light. Having a second digital thermometer (or second probe for one) is a good idea too so you can monitor the basking site temp and the cool side temp without having to move the probes and wait for them to get an accurate reading.

In a large tank (you'll need one for an adult) I would use a T5 UVB tube. The ReptiSun 10 is still a good option, but go with the 22'' T5 and a T5 fixture for it (Sunblaster makes a nice one, 2ft model). That will provide great levels of UVB at about 12'' below the bulb.

My Setup:
Repti Sun Fluorescent Tube 10.0 <<< is it a T5 or a T8 ? is there a reflector behind it ? is it obstructed by a screen ? how from the lizard when basking ?
Normal Household bulb <<< what wattage is it ? does it create a focused beam under it ? perhaps a good quality MVB or a Philips par38 incandescent colourless spotty will be better.
55 gal. Tank <<<< is the tank at least 4ft LONG x 2ft WIDE ?
Paper Towel Substrate
Hydrometer
Digital Temp Reader
Neodymium Bulb(basking) <<< waste of money if you have a good T5 or T8 10% UVB or higher tube.

A good stout bit of tree branch to climb onto to bask would likely be appreciated, as would a Jumbo Sized Hubbahut (which can double as a basking platform).

At least 2 permanently fixed digital thermometers (with probes on the end of long cables) are an excellent addition, I can see my cool and warm zone temps at a glance.

Loose laid ceramic wall or floor tiles (no glue or grout) are a good option for bedding, you can also have paper towels too.

A powerboard and a mechanical or programmable digital timer is a good addition, connect all the lights to the powerboard and the powerboard to the timer. Then set a day cycle about 14 - 16 hrs long (I use 16 hours for my skinks and beardies).

Sorry for this late reply lol  but I was wondering basking bulbs from home depot is better than at pet stores, usually the ones I got from pet stores keep busting in 2-7 days, which is stupid. Is there any bulbs from like home depot that has full spectrum lighting? Maybe this one- http://www.homedepot.com/p/Philips-90-Watt-Equivalent-Halogen-PAR38-Dimmable-Indoor-Outdoor-Flood-Light-Bulb-2-Pack-429373/203231668

Hi there!

Aww, Eddie looks like a happy little goof! :) The first light you've got there is the better one. That's pretty much the same one I use for basking. They last quite some time and are cheaper than the 'Reptile' brands. The second, the LED, will be the energy efficient one and won't provide the heat you're looking for in the basking area. As long as you've got the good UVB like the Reptisun T5 or T8 (under the screen) , or Arcadia tube, and the halogen flood, you should be good to go with nothing but a few possible adjustments to height of the basking area. :)

Good luck, little Eddie!!

Awesome thank you! I named Eddie after a band's mascot, and alright. I have a temporary basking bulb for him and plan on getting him more stuff today, including the bulb. Again, thank you! :) :blob5:

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
