Adult Bearded dragon in pet store in bad living conditions

Hi guys, for the past month when I go buy my crickets for my juvenile bearded dragon I've noticed this adult bearded dragon in a 20 gallon tank. He has no heating lamp and I'm not sure if he has a uvb/uva light. I feel terrible and want to buy him but I really do not have that much money. Hopefully someone in the area can look into this and adopt him or someone could help me find ways to make it as cheap as possible because i feel bad that he's been there for atleast a month in a tiny tank with no basking light.

Report them to the RSPCA , I think they are in Canada and likely your best option to report the store for animal mistreatment.

I agree with the SPCA suggestion...in Montreal there is bound to be a local rescue as well. In a way I am glad I am not closer cause my hubby would throttle me...I would so take him, but really can't afford another either. If I am not mistaken Québec has very stringent regulations in regards to pets too. So reporting them would be a big deal

An idea that might be too stressful or problematic is to ask the pet store if you can have it. If they say 'no' then report it...don't tell them you are going to do it if they are the only petstore around you can get supplies and insects from.

Do you think that would work?

Does the store know they are providing improper care and harming the dragon? It might be helpful to walk through proper setup specs with them, especially if they have the right equipment in their stock.

Maybe....it's worth a shot.
It's much better then just reporting it. If it's reported and investigated I can almost promise an ill dragon will be euthanized.
Reporting it after you get the dragon is a better idea.

Well , if the owner of the store is as big a jerk as I suspect he is, the best bet is report them and tell the store you are watching and if the dragon vanishes they had better have a forewarding address for it (for where the buyer lives) else it will be assumed it was taken out the back and got the heal of the boot treatment before being disappeared into the bin.

Maybe you can PETA involved to make life hard for the shop ....

The biggest issue is trying to save the dragon. Do what you can to obtain the animal prior to reporting it. If it's in your possession it's doubtful it would be taken from you after you report it.
If you report it and the animal is still at the shop it will get confiscated cataloged and probably euthanized. It would be hard to prove the shop wasn't trying to save a sick animal. If it's given or sold to you, that implies knowledge that they sold or gave you a sick reptile.
If you tell the owner your going to report it, it is likely the shop will kill it...and it would be impossible for anyone to prove that he wasn't trying to save a sick animal.
The only good way to deal with it is to try and get the animal out of the shop before doing anything else.

Yes, I totally agree with this. If they are just being that much of douchebag, then make life hard for them until they fall in. but do everything possible to get the dragon in your possession before reporting them, for the sake of the dragon.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
