zipper just got his meds and alittle food with some powder the vet gave me that is supposed to be a meat substitute, and I gave him some electrolites after to wash it down, but he is doing this thing when all his legs are moving but he is pushing him self against the floor and rubbing his throat on floor as he goes is that normal? and he just started shedding. He is acting weird. he has mbd and is on alot of meds but he looks bloated I gave him a warm bath last night and no poop, but I got some prunes baby food stage 1, how much can I give him to make him go, its been 5 days

I would give him a couple mouthfuls of prunes at most. The rubbing his throat is because he is trying to shed - this is how the get the skin loose. You will often see him rubbing different shedding body parts on hard stuff to help break the shed. What is his flooring? The meds may also mess with his appetite. You should get a probiotic, either acidophiliz+ or just non-dairy, soy yogurt. Give him a bit of that a few hours after meds. What are you doing to treat the MBD? He may not be pooping if he hasn't eaten much, and he may be puffing up to help his shed.

Alright I will do that. yes right now his legs are shedding that I can see. Repti Carpet. I have a probiotic and Benebac 2 different ones. Baytril and metacam and Penacur. for the MBD. He was eating alot and slowed way down but I just put a wax worm in his tank with him and he gobbled it up plus I sprayed it with calcium spray. And he has liquid calcium. I have the other thread Bottom jaw sticking out further then top, on there has his schedule of meds everyday. lol he has been puffy since I noticed there was something wrong.

They poof up when they're trying to crack the skin on their tummies and backs. You might give more frequent baths, and he might puff up in the bath too - it's a hoot because they look like balloons with their little feet sticking out in all directions. They are trying to get the skin to crack so that water can get under it and make shedding easier. You have to keep a close eye on them though, because they they float because of all the air, then tip over if they're not perfectly balanced. They could get water in their ears or noses a lot more easily. If they're really poofy in the tub they might spend quite a while afterwards, up to an hour, hissing and "decompressing".

Have you tried baby food? If he won't go after bugs and isn't interested in salad, you might drip a little baby food on his nose and see if he licks it off. We had a troublesome patch with Richard when he was almost a year old when he stopped eating (We found out he had raging parasites and a kidney disorder that caused rapid dehydration), He wouldn't eat bugs or veggies of any kind, but I would drop baby food on his nose and he eventually figured out that he could eat if. He still loves it; I give it to him several times a week for the liquid content.

Richard eats and drinks so much when I drip things on his nose that I've often wondered if their instinct is to keep licking at stuff even after they're full.

I am giving him stage 1 chicken and turkey and squash, pureed with strawberries and collards. yesterday he ate 3 wax worms. And he is shedding, and today he finally pooped. So he must be getting better. He has MBD and meningitis. on lots of meds but he must be getting better since he is shedding.

update on Zipper. He just pooped and it was alot but it was not runny and he is now eating meal worms on his own not supers as of yet they are too big for him. Plus he is eating wax worms. I am still giving him baby as well to keep him strong, do I need to continue on the meat replacment powder as well?

PLEASE do not feed mealworms - this is only going to cause further impaction. They are also not nutritious at all. If he isn't big enough to supers, stick with crickets, dubia, or silkworms. You can occasionally feed wax, butter, or hornworms, too.

the vet told me mealworms thats why I did it, and I cant find silkworms in the stores. he is big enough for supers he ate them everyday, but with being as sick as he was he wont eat them. so all I have is supers and wax and meal worms, and he has never been impacted. Idk I am getting so confused and he is slow at catching crickets. But I will get some of them.

Sorry for the confusion. You would have to order silks online. Same with horns. Vets are often out of date with newer info, which is why I rely on this website for the latest in care most of the time. Meal worms are a BIG no-no around here. At his size, he probably won't get terribly impacted from them, but they're still nutritionally worthless. An occasional treat would probably be okay, but otherwise should be avoided.

I definitely suggest that. My beardie just adores them. I cannot wait for my colony to hit self-sustaining levels.

well he just got his meds and I dusted a wax worm with repti cal and he slurped it down, so I gave him one more and he took it down too. Plus I got his electrolites and benebac and he drank it or should I say sucked it out of the syringe so he is for sure getting better.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
