Sometimes I just put superworms in a dish in Vash's cage and then go to work. And occasionally Vash will tip the dish over and worms will escape. Apparently he did this at some point and he didn't manage to catch them before they hid, because a week or so ago I thoroughly cleaned out his cage and there were two superworm pupae thingies in there, hidding under some tiles. Out of curiosity, I kept them in a cup to see what the beetle looks like and how long it takes them to transform, etc, and now they're beetles. lol. I also found a beetle crawling across the floor yesterday (I had some superworms escape once because I'm a klutz, but I thought I got them all.... apparently not. Ew) so I added him in to the cup.

But... I don't know what to do with them now. Can they fly? I've been quickly and carefully dropping a couple water gels and some oats into the cup with them and then replacing the lid in case they can fly. My bf said I should just kill them, but I can't do that.

If you get enough, you can breed your own supers. It does take awhile, tho. We've been working on it for about one year and finally noticed some supers (at least a couple dozen) in with the beetles. If you check with someone who does it more than I have (I would look up the information I got and forward it to you but I'm without internet unless I use someone's computer and I only have a limited amount of time, usually. I hope I will be able to help you with that later when I'm back in my own home.

How long does it take for it to go from worm to beetle? I missed the first half of the transformation, so I don't know how long it took to go from worm to pupa/alien-thing, but it seemed to only take a week or so to go from pupa to beetle...

I am not sure about breeding supers...I do however have a small colony of mealworms growing for my scorpion. The eggs take about 10 days to hatch and then another 3 weeks until they are big enough to use as feeders and then they basically start their life cycle again (laying eggs and dying off)

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
