It almost looks like it might be gout.

I'm NOT going through the abscess thing again...I hope...

I've never seen gout in a lizard, but he's so young he's probably not been around long enough to develop it.

Do you think he might have had a fall in his enclosure or got his leg twisted in there somehow ?

..... a bad soft tissue injury like a sprain or dislocation will cause swelling too. (I know that for a fact as I've got a trick left elbow (sports injury , been dislocated 5 times , all in nasty rock slips and falls while fishing on slippery ocean platforms over the years, and it swelled up heaps each time after I dislocated it).

My first dragon (Cooper) started showing signs of gout at around a year old. He had a bump on his hand and then some of his fingers got swollen a bit. The vet took a sample and saw crystals indicating gout. Confirmed with a blood test. A sample can also be tested for a bacterial infection. I agree that a soft tissue injury can cause swelling too so I'd take a wait and see approach and monitor to see if it starts to get better on it's own.

That was my plan. Just monitor for a while to try and minimize any invasive procedures this little dude might need in his life. They can just go very seriously wrong.

It's so weird because it's SO hard when you squeeze it. I barely squeeze to check the swelling and each time it feels like a rock. Hopefully that's just inflammation.

Sounds like a plan .... hopefully the swelling will subside and all will be good WITHOUT the need for a vet to go poking about (to drain and clean it out).

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
