A quick question

Ruby has been semi-brumating for a lil bit now. I think I'm going to encourage her to go into full brumation. I know she will because she has already done it once since we got her. It's time to replace her uvb, but she was an extreme rehab, she was paralyzed when we got her. I don't want to turn her uvb off completely for fear of relapse. I'm wondering if switching her basking bulb out with a mvb might be better that running the long tube while she is down. Thoughts and opinions?

I would not use a MVB but I am not sure about leaving it on w/ her brumating - I would ask Tracie and see what she thinks since she was paralyzed once before -- see what she thinks

Normally I don't use the mvb bulbs at all, but I'm can't see leaving the Arcadia running if she is sleeping. I'm not home or close enough to run home and check on her throught he day. But I do want her to have basking and at least some uvb if she comes out while I'm not at home to turn the Arcadia back on.
I'll take your advice though and drop Tracie a p.m.

That would work, but I'm the crazy conspiracy theory fool that don't trust all these "smart" devices lol. I have two televisions that will listen and turn themselves on. More times than not they will try to advertise whatever we were talking about. Both are disconnected from the internet and both are unplugged. I would throw both in the trash but my girlfriend won't let me because her sister bought them before she passed (a whole different convoluted story). I refuse to allow the hey google, or amazon ect even in my house lol. Sad part is, I used to love technology but now I just don't trust it. I don't even connect my phone to my wifi. Heck if I'm somewhere and have to use my gps to get me pointed home, I put in a neighbors address so my phone can't associate with my actual address ... sad but true

I am calm about new technologies and different gadgets. I work in the telecommunications industry and roughly know what all these things are capable of. besides, I am more than sure that if someone wants to get my personal data, he will get it, this is how the state works, unfortunately this is the case.
In your situation, is it worth organizing a very dark niche and leaving the UV and heating lamp on?

In a true brumation, out in the wild, a dragon will bury itself. There isn't any UV getting to the dragon.

That being said, I understand your concerns. I have an old UV bulb in with Kiki right now since she is brumating. Might not help you much this go around, but next time you replace your arcadia, keep the "bad" one (which is likely still putting out similar UV as a T8.)

I am so bumb (misspelling intentional lol). I changed Snickers and Zens recently and still have both "old" bulbs. I wish I had thought of that before my lunch break, I just dropped nearly a hundred bucks on a mvb and new dome lol.
My thought was to move the mvb as far from her as I can, but still have it available if she comes out. All that is assuming she will even do a full brumation lol.

It may be worth additionally insulating the place where she will be brumated so that it keeps it cool
