I can't find a fixture for the new UVB light I bought anywhere nearby, so I wanted to order one online. I was wondering if anybody could direct me to the fixture that they use, or at least give me the brand and specifics so I can try and find it myself? I have a ReptiSun 10.0 18 inch bulb sitting here on my desk, and I really want to get it into the viv as soon as possible. I currently have a compact bulb, which I dislike rather intensely. It was all I could find nearby. :/ Anyway, if anyone can help me out it will be much appreciated! Thanks!

Thank you, but I'm really looking for a small fixture that can be mounted inside the tank itself. It would allow him to get closer to it (but not too close) and the screen won't be able to block out any of that important light. Plus, I've heard that the specially made terrarium hoods are quite a bit more expensive. ;) I've seen a lot of people mount these lights just inside the tank, I just have no idea what fixture to use or where I could get it. We tried the local Walmart and several hardware stores, but no luck. :/ The only thing it says on the light's packaging is that it's best to use a fixture with an electric ballast, not a magnetic one. I haven't the foggiest idea what that means, but hopefully somebody here does. xD

take your bulb into llowes or home depot or a department store and say to the lighting specialist, i need a fixture for this bulb and he will direct you. i believe the reptisun is a T8 fixture.

I may have to make a trip for that, hah. Thanks, if I get any free time soon I might end up doing that. :p

I use these the straight line brackets: http://www.beardeddragons.co/beardeddragon/index.php?route=product/category&path=68&page=2
with this light fixture: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000Z994IU/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details The one at bearded dragons.co will work just as well, and is much cheaper.
I have the ReptiSun 10.0. Hope this helps :D

I bought an under the cabinet fixture from a local hardware store (they are also available at Home Depot, Wal-Mart, etc.) and then used heavy duty velcro that can withstand temps up to 175 F to mount it inside my tank.

When I was looking for my fixture I checked Lowes and Walmart and found that Walmart was significantly cheaper (around $9). I'm using an under the counter light fixture that I attached zip ties to, then attached them to the screen top of my viv (via two small holes I cut into the screen). It was very easy and looks great.

Hope this helps. :)

I also wanted to point out that when it comes to ballasts, you get what you pay for.

Electronic ballasts are far superior to magnetic. Not only will your bulbs last longer, but electronic ballasts don't flicker or make noise. They also start up immediately and you don't have to replace any starters.

I had a hard time finding an appropriate electronic ballast in my city so I broke down and ordered the reptisun electronic ballast online. I am extremely happy with it.

Good to know- it said on the box that electronic ballasts are best so I go with what the box says! We tried our local Walmart, but they didn't have anything. :/ So today, if this storm doesn't prevent it, we're headed over to Lowe's in the next town over to try there. They also have a Home Depot in case we don't have any luck there, so HOPEFULLY we'll have a fixture for it by the end of the day.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
