So I ordered crickets for the second time with Fluker Farms over the weekend. I never got any kind of tracking information from them and their website had a notice on it that they were in an ice storm and would ship"weather permitting" on Monday, so I (stupidly) assumed that the crickets had not been sent. (I see, by the way, that they took down their weather warning today.) Amarillo got hit by a huge snow storm on Tuesday. They apparently arrived Tuesday, and I came home to a box of 1000 dead crickets. Now, I emailed the company Tuesday night (they were closed when I called), and they refunded my order, but I don't think I will order with them again. They did not send tracking, did not add egg crate, and did not supply heat packs AT ALL. Also, there were several large spiders mixed in with my order that were very much alive. Now here is the response I got yesterday morning from Flukers about my complaint:
The whole situation seems a bit rediculous to me. Keep in mind I ordered from them once before and the box was well packed, trackable and alive. I'm just putting the warning out there.
"Sorry you are unhappy with our service. We have been battling the weather here for 2 weeks now. If you ordered on Sunday, it said on the website that we were not shipping until Monday. Your order did ship on Monday as promised. We do not ship heat packs, never have. We are in the south and we don’t need them usually here. What has been very successful for us is to ship them in a winter box, with the windows blocked. Once they get to their destination, you bring them in and warm them up for 2 or 3 hours. 90% of the time they will wake up from their dormant stage and are fine. I am not sure why yours didn’t, but you are guaranteed a live shipment. As far as the egg crates, I have been here for 12 years and have never had a box shipped without egg crates. I am not sure how that happened.
Because of the temperatures in Memphis tonight being extreme, we have suspended shipping today. I am going to refund your PayPal account back."
