9-month old female digging?

Was wondering if anyone has experienced that a 9 month old female is industriously digging? She just started that recently (2-3 weeks ago) and if she was older, I'd say she is carrying eggs, but at 9 months?

Temps range from high 70's - 108, Zoomed mercury vapor bulb, plenty of hiding spaces.

My female is 7 months old and has been digging caves for a month. She completely covers herself in sand. I've given her deeper sand so she can dig in the sand and not the plastic.

It can happen. I recommend a plastic box with plenty of damp compost.

Secondmommy - I wouldn't recommend using sand in your tank. It can lead to impaction and dehydration, and it's a real devil to keep clean. You're better off with reptile carpet, astroturf or just plain flooring. Beardies don't live on sand in the wild, and their natural habit of licking means they'll eat a lot of it.

What about the nesting and her digging a place to put her eggs?

You'll recognise when your dragon goes diggy mad - you can then offer her a dig box. That's what I do with my ladies.

thanks for replies, I can't feel any eggs but will give her a digging box, see what she does with it. On the bright side she is digging and scratching on some of the rocks, which keeps her claws nicely trimmed.

It's rare you can actually feel eggs in there - the fact that she's persistently digging means you need to get a dig box arranged, like, yesterday. Holding eggs too long is lethal.
